First time we've floated together. Glen floats the river quite a bit fishing, and trying to get in a few bowshots while he's at it.
He's been asking me if I wanted to do a float just to concentrate on bowfishing..this morning we finally did it.
It turned out to be an awesome trip!
Glen was quickly into a fish...

And was quickly into another...

The action was better than we even thought it might be...

A lot more to tell and show...
:campfire:
You are having too much fun!!!
I sure wish that I had a river that looked like that close by. Good job on the fish. Looks like you all had a great time.
James
Like I said, it far exceeded our expectations....3 more...

Then as we slowly floated, I spotted 2 fish and held off so we could both try to get one, ya know, try to "double up"....
I shot and drilled mine and never even pulled on it so as not to spook the other fish. It never had a clue and Glen drilled it. Two fish on!
Well when I went to start to fight mine it was only a slight pull and then slack! Mine was off, but Glen landed another fine carp...

When I reeled my line in I realized the reason for losing the fish and our chance at a double. Like a bonehead I'd forgot to tighten my tip after taking the last fish off...the barbs had just flipped right over allowing the fish to escape :knothead:
Still more, hang on...
I gotta get me a canoe, since I have a river as my southern property line, tired of walking the bank.
Great pic's.........
cool! good lookin river too.
Man I gotta get me a bow fishin rig ! I've never done it yet but it looks like so much fun !
Great job and pics man
My next one was captured on video...

*** Note to Charlie(Cyclic-Rivers)....we passed up 2 snapping turtles...we thought of you, but just couldn't bring ourselves to shoot them***
wish we could float the rivers for carp here
most are closed to bow fishing due to being designated trout streams
looks like a great time
Awesome job guys, looks like you had a blast!!
what do you do with them after ya shoot them?
L.R.
As you can see in some of those pix, it started raining a couple times, but that didn't slow things down at all.
Another fine shot by Glen...

Thought some of you might enjoy Glen's tattoo...

Like I said earlier, this trip far exceeded what we thought it would be. but was closed in on the take out point where my truck was parked we didn't want to quit!
We were still seeing fish and about 10yds short of the take out, I saw another fish heading right at us, then it turned off and was headed away, and pretty far out and probably made my best shot of the day!
As I started to fight mine on the west side of the boat, Glen saw another fish and made a another good shot!
Two fish on!
What an ending to an incredible trip...we got our double just seconds shy of having to quit(you can see my truck in the backround, that is right where it all went down)...

Thanx again buddy, it was a blast! Can't wait to do it again!!!!
An adventure close to home. What a day you two had.
What a *great* day of fishing!
Those were some whoppers!
Thank you for taking us along Guru and sharing the photos and video!
Have a great 2011 hunting season (fishin's been good)!
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
Very nice pictures!! Way to go

David
Looks like great fun, wish we had some carp filled rivers close by. Glad you both had a great day.
What an awesome trip!!! You guys sure seemed to get into the commons. We're overrun with bigheads and silvers in my neck of the woods so commons are anything but here. And Glen's tattoo is very cool. TRW

Guru, had you been down that stretch of river before to know there would be fish there? Also, is that a flat bottom canoe or are you a circus acrobat to be able to stand up in one while bowfishing? :biglaugh:
Excellent photos and carp!
very nice, great photos and it looks like you had a blast.
Good times buddy!! Looks like the carp are averaging a little bigger hunting by boat. :wavey:
Great picts guys and beautiful river.
Looks like a blast! My buddy has a canoe that needs to get some use & I have a fork of the Maquoketa river about a mile behind my house, we need to try this.
What an awsome morning of bowfishing. We were into fish right from the start and were busy until the last minute. We floated roughly 4 or 5 miles and got 17 into the canoe.I got 6 and had another 3 pull off and Curt boated 11.This was a record day for both of us.I know I missed at least ten.We had to get out of the canoe a few times and drag over the rocks but were floating for the most part.Curt was on fire shooting ,even hitting one on the move after I missed.A day to remember. VTer,it is a flat bottom canoe and is very stable. Both of us could stand and shoot at the same time.
Congratulations guys! Looks like a ton of fun!
too much fun!!!!!!!!!! :)
Very Cooll guys. You sure know how to make a fella yearn
Thank you for saving me the snapping turtles . ;) :p
Great pictures Curt....I know ya'll had a blast.
Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing.

Doesnt get any better!!!Thanks for the story. When the water drops out here I'll be taking part in the same type stuff hopefully.
