Title: SRTING QUESTION?
Post by: huntmaster80 on July 24, 2011, 11:55:00 AM
I will be getting my new ILF set up early this week.  Morrison 15" riser, with Samick med. limbs, to make a 58" bow.

The question I have is, I have an SBD ultra string that was made for a 58" amo bow and the actucall string length is 52 1/2".  will I be ok using this string, or will I harm the bow if I shoot it with this string?

thanks for the help.

I checked Bob's charts and the sudjested brace height is from 6 1/2 to 7".  what string length should I start out with?

It is unlikely that a 52 1/2" string is intended for a 58" AMO bow. One of the numbers does not jive. If this string braces your new bow at the correct height you are good to go. If it is off get a new one.

That string should work fine for you. You may need to put a few twists in it to get your brace height up to where it needs to be.

You need to know the recommended brace height for your new bow.  If you don't know, probably Bob Morrison could give you an idea.  If your old string puts you in the right range, without having to put too many twists in it, it should work fine.

Well, 5.5" shorter than length of bow isn't AMO.

But with the different setups and designs out there, maybe, but I'm doubting!

If you get the brace height that's recomended, by all means use it. Like mcdave says, without to much twisting.

But, if when stringing, you find you have to pull it up to your chin,  :(  too short!
