I've been anxiously awaiting this package for about 15 months now. Today was the day, the mailman knocked on the door and handed me this.

Well......Matt, you weren't entirely "wrong". It is a recurve, but there is another set of limbs that goes with it. They are all myrtle, but the ones that I had the chance to take some pictures of today are cocobolo and myrtle.
More pictures will follow, if I can find the time to put the other set of limbs on her tomorrow and snap a few pics. The myrtle on the footed limbs isn't to shabby either, but the other set of limbs are "very nice" also.
Thanks......everyone, I am going to have to send one of the footed limbs back to Norm because apparently something was loose in the box and knocked a hunk out of the finish on the belly of the bottom limb about the size of a pencil eraser.

Wow, a package from Blacktail is really special!
Good Job waiting without losing your mind.
Wow, when my Blacktail Hunter grows up, it'll look like that. Norm is an artist. :clapper:
Gorgeous and congrats on the bow.
Brad
Wowzers... that is stunning. How are you ever going to take that beautiful thing out in the field? That would be like hunting in a tux!
Not fair Don, Norm left me an email and said mine would ship next week. Here I am trying to patiently wait and you post this!! Congrats on the beautiful bow...Shawn
Sweet! :) Another gorgeous "recurve".
When you get a package from Norm Johnson, it's just like opening a package on Christmas morning.
Wow.
WOW! That is awesome!
WOW, That is a great looking bow!!! Congrats
Gorgeous!

Oops........I kinda forgot that part.
Both sets of limbs make a 66" bow, the footed set is 52# @ 29" and the all myrtle set is 45# @ 29".
Check back for more pics later today.
Winterhawk1960
Beauty for sure!!
Don, that is one beautiful bow! What combination of woods make up this bow?
Winterhawk,
If you haven't shot the bow yet, when you do, you're going to love it's 66" length. At your 29" draw length, it's going to feel "velvety smooth" when drawing all the way to your anchor point.
Drop dead gorgeous!!!
So how long did you just sit there looking at it before you actually strung it up and shot it?!! haha Very nice!
But I see a major problem with it.....it is so BEAUTIFUL that will be distracting to you while shooting!
mmm...very sexy weapon!
Nice bow Don.
Another one of Norm's works of art. I really like your choice of woods. Making my wait even harder.
Life is too short for ugly bows! Good gravy! That's a sharp, sharp bow!!
WoW
Fabulous bow. Nice set up too with two sets of limbs.
 Absolutely beautiful!
HOLY COW.........
That has to be one of, if not the, nicest looking bows I have ever seen and I have seen a bunch...
Don, ya gotchya one there buddy.....
Thanks everyone.......she is definately a "keeper". Would anyone like to see her other set of "legs" ??? Quite honestly......I'm not sure "which" set of legs I like best.
Whatta Ya'll think ???

Yeah........Jim, it'll be there.
Winterhawk1960
Don,
Have you shot your new Blacktail?
That bow is "CRAZY GOOD LOOKIN'"!!!
WOW very nice.
that's about as good looking as a bow can get.
Don,
I can't tell from the pics which set of limbs look the best. Send it over to me and I will help you decide! Great looking bow.
Doug
"Like hunting in a tux" - that's funny.
Really, really nice bow!
You take excellent pictures and your bow is stunning .... :notworthy:
winterhawk, i just got my blacktail in as well. yours, mine, and hogdancers must have all been in the same batch. wish i could figure out how to post a pic!
beauty of a bow!
"I never did take an ugly girl to the dance. Life is to short for Ugly Bows".
Say's it all mate... some eye candy right there!
ak.
Mighty fine with both sets of limbs-now if that ends up in the classifieds you know I'm headed to Parkersburg to shake you up.Worth the wait.
Don - you definitely have a bunch of nice bows!
Congrats on this latest one.........Norm does not make ugly bows for sure.
Outstanding workmanship in that bow. I'd like to get down to Reedsport and see some of his work first hand.
a beautiful new bow is hard to beat.... Kirk
My eyes hurt from the shine, you are gonna have to cover the puppy before taking it outside, because no ones is going to believe it is a trad bow, looks like artwork.
Congrats Don,I am glad your wait is finished and now you can play with all that beauty.Let us know how you like the 66".
Congrats. That's a beautiful bow.
Wow, that is a great looking bow! I especially like the myrtle limbs-that third pic of the top face is very nice!
Don, Beautiful bow for sure. :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Are my eyes fooling me from the beauty or does the top limb say 52@28 and the bottom limb 52@29?
Just curious, which is it?
Btw, I think I like that set of limbs the best.
Thanks for sharing.
I dont recall seeing a nicer looking bow.VERY,VERY NICE.

Ragin Bull,
I caught that right out of the box and was curious to see how long it would take for someone to notice. It is marked exactly as your eyes are telling you it is.
Actually, I am going to have to send the bottom limb(the one that is marked correctly) back to Norm to get a chip in that limbs finish repaired. Apparently the bag in the box that contained the brass bezels and limb bolts must have been slammed into that limb pretty hard during its trip to me. I didn't (and am not going to) say anything to him about the other limb being marked with the wrong weight. This bow will never leave my stable and it actually is probably one of the few (if any) mistakes he has ever made that has actually made it to a customer.
Thank-You all for the compliments. Now if it ever cools down a little bit, I might get to see how she shoots. I'm quite sure that I will be more than pleased.
Winterhawk1960
My gosh that is one georgeous creature. I would love to get my paws on her.
Congrats on that beauty!!
Must be something in the Oregon water. Another Oregon bowyer just mismarked a set of limbs for me.
Amazing!
Don,an absolute beauty! Those woods just seam to scream! I look at my Blacktail daily and am still amazed at Norms workmanship, true works of Art.All the best with her.
Don: thanks for sharing the photos. But, you know even as good as the pics were, they never do Norm's bows justice. There is no way to describe the fit and feel and craftsmanship of his bows, you have to put your hands on them to get the full effect. Enjoy RW
Back up.......for a buddy.
Thanks again everyone. R.W. Mackey......you are correct, pictures don't do it justice and there is truly nothing like holding it in your hands. A finer craftsman would indeed be hard to find.
