Welcome to MO,Keith!
Guess you already know bout heat and humidity!
Great deer season , long and plenty tags.
I'm 50 miles from IA so we are a bit apart,if you're ever up in N MO, stop in!
Pick up a copy of the 2011 fall deer and turkey regulations from the dept of conservation or Walmart. In there you will find info on special draw hunts real close to you- bush wildlife, Weldon springs and others. Good luck and welcome to the Midwest.
Welcome Keith,
I'm across the creek and a little south in IL. Check out TownHall Archery in Belleville IL. There's a great group of Trad guy's that shoot there every Saturday morning, 9:00am, I think one of them is from St. Charles. They'll point you in the right direction. I go as often as I can, just can't always make time. It's just off of IL.HWY 15
welcome to Mo. plenty of places to hunt nearby to st. charles, you wont be sorry you moved here, as far as deer and turkey go. your here just in time for some scouting around for the season to. starts sept 15. good luck
Welcome to Mo. You need to go to powder valley in St Louis County. They have a map book with all the public conservation areas listed. You are in a great area. If you need anything give me a call. We have a small all trad shop about a hour and a bit southeast of you.

Welcome to MO. Lots of good hunting and shooting. You can go to Busch wildlife area to shoot at the range. Check out our state org. United bowhunters of Missouri. I'm about 30-45 minutes south of you at Imperial. Lots of trad guys around the area.
Very weird to see St. Charles, Mo as the thread title. That is/was my child hood home from age 9 until 18 when I left for the navy. I now live in Wentzville with my wife and son, just 20 minutes west of you, and still in St. Charles County Missouri!! We will have to hook up and shoot. I live on 3.5 acres out here, and we have some great BBQ's/ Bonfires in the fall.
WELCOME!
Umm just saw that your profile states that you are retired Navy. Even cooler, lol.
30 mins away from you. Busch wildlife will prob be important to you.
Also, if you go to MO conservation website, they have alot of detailed information including maps for you.
Danville will be a little bit of a drive for you, but well worth it
You are not in the bayous anymore man. Good luck
I'm in Pacific, about 45 minutes or so away. As has been said nice, long season and some nice places to hunt. Check out Missouri Dept. of Conservation website, lots of good info there.
ps Welcome to Missouri, maybe we'll bump into each other someday.
Eric.
There's a great group of tradgangers in your area. They get together routinely on Sunday mornings for a round of arrow flinging very near you.
Gray Buffalo,DVSHUNTER are a couple that come to mind.... luckily I could think... this heat is killing me..
Welcome to Missouri!
If you ever get over around Columbia or Jefferson City let me know you're coming and we can hook up for some trad fun as I live halfway between the two places.
God bless,Mudd
Monday night there is a Traditional league at the St. Louis bowhunters, which is at 301 Tecumsah street, near hwy 370 and 94 on the east side of town.
Lucky. I go back to St Peters to hunt with my cousin. Not as easy to do here. We draw for all big game and some game birds

Another welcome to Missouri, been here my whole life and wouldn't have it any other way. Long bowseason we got here from September 15th to January 15th.
I'm nearly straight South of St. Louis off of Hwy.67 near Farmington, if you ever decide to take a trip down to Wappapello Lake, or Mingo National Refuge there's lots of deer and turkey down there. Be sure and hit me up before you head out and you can stop by here and pick me up on the way, I'd love to go huntin' with ya!
Besides, if you get one down on the ground your gonna need some help gettin' it out.
Or you can just hang out with me here on the river, I always got room for a fellow bow hunter.
Sounds good Semo_hunter, I may very well take you up on your offer buddy. God Bless!
If you're gonna head down to Semo's let me know. I'm right about in the middle of you two, and can show ya where he hides at. Besides I'm gettin' another bow for him to try out. :saywhat: He kinda likes that one....
Well, catch ya later Keith,
from one Keith to another
You better hide that Bama Bow in the trunk or it might grow legs!! :saywhat:
That bow is one sweet shooter!
Keith you could swing by here, then we could meet bayouman out by 67 and head down to Mingo for a day. I think he'd really enjoy himself down there with all the flooded timber they got and all the geese, ducks, cranes, that come in there every fall.......he'd feel right at home. I know one of the locals whos been hunting Mingo since he was just a grass hoppa and I'm sure he would meet us out there and point us in the right direction. He's also a Trad Ganger.
I might be talked into hooking up with you guys for a day of real ground pounding and arrow flinging as some fur or feather covered critters.
I'd love to have a duck stamp and/or whatever it takes to try for geese too!
I know I'm doing a self invite here but hey, who can blame me for that?...lol
God bless,Mudd
You guys are getting my blood pumping! Thankful to get responses from such good folk. Of course I would not expect any different here on this site. Looking forward to meeting ya'll

Kurt if he see's how you and Charlie shoot it might intimidate him. Keith if you can take some ribbing that is a great group.
Sounds good
in the morning bayoubowman. Busch archery range @ 8:00
should be a good mornning to gather and shoot, its cooled off just-a-bit. wish i could make it.
I was the Wildlife District Supervisor, stationed at the Busch Area from 1992-1995. Great wildlife staff working the area and at Powder Valley Nature Center as well.
The archery range at Busch is one of the oldest in the country. It was originally put in by Earl Hoyt and his buddies in their archery club.
There are many dozens of managed ponds and small lakes on Busch to fish. The deer hunting at Busch and Weldon Springs (adjacent WMAs) is all draw but not too difficult to get picked.
If you want an inside contact with the agency, if you go to Busch during the week ask for Dan Crigler. He is a terrific Private Lands biologist. Tell him "Roy Grimes" sent you. He probably knows every property owner in the three county area and whether or not they have "deer problems" or not. Danny is also a bowhunter. He can tell you about his late night "coleman lantern" doe recovery back in 1994.
You may know this already. Since 1976 every Missourian pays 1/8th of a penny in sales tax on towards wildlife conservation. That used to be around $15/per person --it is probably a bit more today. The nice thing is this provides a very strong wildlife budget for Missouri and keeps your license fees down while providing very high quality service to wildlife enthusiasts. The MDC is one of the most highly respected wildlife agencies in the country.
Missouri also has a much stronger NASP than Lousisana does.
I second the nod on Dan at MDC great guy. He worked with my dad and I on solme wetlands projects for the duck club he used to caretake.
About the subday shoot there... um... those guys are different. :smileystooges: I'm going to be there this sunday too. You should definitly be there. Its always a good time. Supposed to cool off too.
Howdy and welcome!!! I'm just west down I-70, west of Boonville!!!
Thanks Bowwild that is some good info there. Appreciate it.
