What's your favorite additive for water while huntin in the mountains? Gatoraid powder or is there some better stuff to replace electrolytes??
I take a supplement for Wilderness Hunter or Endurolytes from Hammer Nutrition and use things like Crystal light and others to make the water better. That way you get alot of variety and don't have to worry about lytes.
Yup, gatorade powder, emergenc-C, ... I'll be watching this, always looking for the next best thing, as I sweat a lot and if I don't keep up with it I get leg cramps. I drink a lot of straight water too.
One of my favorites is Emergen-C Joint Health.It has 500 mg of Glucosamine and 400 mg of Chondroitin. That stuff did wonders for my knees both while training and hiking the mountains. I would mix it with another flavor that had electrolytes in a full 24 oz bottle everyday while hunting.
I like to add a little Jack Daniels to mine around the evening camp fire. :dunno:

I use a lot of propel. The emergen c seems to pack the greatest punch for weight ratio.
Whatever you do don't put in your main reservoir, the sugars make it mold quicker. I keep a 3L on my back for water and use the collapsible platypus bottles for mixes and extra eater storage (they roll up to be tiny when not in use).
Also I have busted more camelbaks than I can count and now I only use the MSR dromedary lite. I've fallen on it dozens of times and after 5+ years is still going strong...
I have used the Wilderness Athlete Hydrate and Recover for the past 3 years with good luck. I have noticed less aches and pains than in the past, which is good considering I am sleeping on the ground after covering lots of miles daily.
I did not use anything last two years and noticed when hiking hard for long periods (hours) over 9000feet I was stumbling a lot and even tripping over logs and stuff. Not good. So this year I started using a powdered mix with my water to replace what I was using up and the difference is I am not having those "issues" anymore.
I will be using Wilderness Athlete this year but any product over the counter aimed at replacement will work well.
Smart policy when you work your body hard.

I have been partial to the Gatorade powder at work, it's relatively cheap & while I'm in the sweltering gurage it sure helps keeps me going through out the day.
cytomax blows that sugar water called gatorade away. any place that sells protein powder will have it. Orange is the best flavor.
Believe it or not Coconut Water (found at and in health and whole food stores), is a SUPER electrolyte replacement. I will say this it aint no Gatorade or sweet yummy drink, but it is FANTASTIC for electrolyte replacement. Here is a little info from a website that sells coconut water.
