I have only ever seen gray foam for limb cores. Does it come in other colors?
Dunno, but my Shrew Carbon/Foam shoots so well I wouldn't care if they were pink.
The different brands I have seen are all grey.

My bowyer just sent me a picture of a real beauty he's making for me right now and I want foam core limbs but the gray just isn't going to go with the overall color scheme. I am actually worried about it ruining a really good look.
Sure wish they could make the foam black at least.
I'd take performance over looks anyday. Ask bowyer to paint sides of limbs black, it's easy to do.
Oh, the gray won't fear me from the foam. Foam is wonderful.
I have four sets of target recurve limbs with foam cores and they are all yellow. 2 sets are Hoyt, 1 Win&Win, 1 PSE.
Morrison and Zipper:grey and I like it.
I have a set of Sebastian Flutes with white foam.
White is what you get if you don't add color. lots of colors, it just costs a lot to get a single run of any color.
and the real question is?At what point does the added color compromise the integrity of the formula for the foam? That is what would worry me.

One advantage to being shade deficient or something like night blindness. I looked closely at a host of Zipper carbon-foam bows a the IBO Trad World this past weeekend. I had to look closely to discern the gray foam lamination.
Bill's concern about impacting the foam's characteristics by changing the color can be quite valid. Have had experiences where significant differences in the past have been observed. Even over the past year, I had two identical nocks from the same company with the exception of color. One color is slightly pliable and performs great. The other color, which ahs been acquired from two different batches, is stiff and breaks quite often at release- not the best of circumstances.
Adequate validation should be considered when changing anything that could possibly prove detrimental.
Yup, I have seen mostly white not grey and I have had 4 or 5 foam sets! Shawn
I don't understand what are the benefits of foam core? Can you explain please?
Rick, I can only speak for my Morrison Cheyenne recurve limbs. I had a set of bamboo cored limbs and bought another set of limbs for it that where the same weight and length. They are noticeably smoother to draw (felt about 2-4 pounds lighter), they are faster (4ft/sec) and quieter with the exact same silencer set up. The wood core limbs had a sharp snappy report to them on release and the foam is a more muffled/softer recoil. Neither had any hand shock.
KentuckyTJ, thanks for the information. I can relate to what you are saying since I have one bow that has Actionwood veneers in the limbs and another that has Bamboo veneers in the limbs. The one with Actionwood veneers is six pounds lighter in draw weight than the one with Bamboo limbs, but pulls about equal to the heavier draw weight bow.
So, if Bamboo is smoother than Actionwood and foam core is smoother than that, then foam core must be smooth as butter.
I have a set of foam core limbs for my Morrison Cheyenne. They are grey with black glass and that is just fine with me since my riser is charcoal dymondwood. Smooth and fast they are....Randy
I echo the sentiments above about the benefits of the foam core. I have 2 Morrison Shawnee's. One with glass and bamboo cores and the other with carbon/foam cores. Both are 64" and both are using an 8 strand string with padded loops. The Foam cores are 44#@29" and the Boo cores are 52#@29". The foam is smoother, quieter and as fast. Gotta love that! Steve
Yeah foam cores are usually about a $30 add on to a custom bow. A no brainer in my book.
I have a Zipper SXT with Carbon and Foam cores on Order, It should be here in 3 weeks or so. I also had Bocate put over the Carbon. I am very excited to try the Foam, up to now Bamboo has been my core of choice.
You should love the zipper,Bills long bow limbs with just foam core are extremely smooth.
Charlie, I was up at Bill's a month or so ago and shot many of his bows and you are really going to like those limbs. Once you shoot them the only thing you will like bamboo for is firewood. Let us know.

My opinion only:
At 25 yards: Not much difference at all. I don't think I would bother with it at this yardage. To me it is not worth extra $$$ on my hunting bows (same with Carbon).
At 90 meters (FITA distances) and when coupled with carbon: It could mean about on extra foot of flatter trajectory with the same poundage limbs. This is very helpful in wind and could also be the difference of staying within the sight window or not. Extreme weather changes also does not have much of an effect on newer foams.
As far as smoothness, I believe the design and the feel of the individual will have more to do with it then the foam. FWIW, I have had foam cores that do not draw so smoothly, and I have had wood cores that draw very smoothly.
This hot steamy summer we have had so far this is reason enough to spend the extra for foam.
Limb design does make a difference and every set of limbs are different In our limbs foam will be 3 fps faster than ActionBoo same speed as maple. Smoother and quieter than Bamboo or Maple. Foam $35 No brainer....
I have Bamboo limbs and C/F. I can't see any difference. Love them both. Of course I am comparing Morrison v Morrison. No lose situation:)
