I was considering trying some carbon arrows and was confused on which size shaft to buy. I wanted to try the Gold Tips. I shoot a 48# recurve at 28". They offer several shaft sizes as follows. 1535 which has a spine of .600 and weighs 7.6g per inch. The others are 3555, spine .500, 8.6g per inch, 5575, .400 at 9.3 g perinch and lastly the 7595, .300 at 11g per inch. I was guessing to go with the 3555, .500 and 8.6 gr. per inch. but was unsure. Any help would be appreciated. I will mainly be using them for whitetail hunting with a 2 blade 125 gr. point.
I would think the 3555 would be perfect, not sure of the length to cut them, but there are a bunch of guys that will be able to get you going...Best of luck..Scott
I'm shooting a bow that is 48 lbs. at my 29 3/4" draw length. It shoots 3555 full length with 145 gr. points very good. 3555 should work well for you.
My 49#@28" longbow will shoot 3555's or the 1535's.
Both are cut 28 3/4" and i'm using 125grn tips with both arrows.
I think the 5575's are way to stiff IMHO.
Go with the 3555s.
3555 will put you in the right range. I load the point up with 275 but it actually shoots pretty well with anywhere from 250 to 300. Might shot other weights well too.
My bow is 47# @ 28 and I draw 29.
3555`s My bows pull around that weight at my draw length.You can cut them depending on how much weight you want up front.I cut mine to 29" and use a 175 or 200 grain tip
Yup, 35/55 and cut to 29"s or 29.5"s and if you draw 28"s but depending on the bow, high performance, cut past center,etc. you will have to play with point weight. Starting with at least 200 grains and more like 225 to start. As said if you leave them long, you can get away with less weight up front. You actually could get away with the .600 spine. I am shooting 46-48# ILF set-up and draw 28.5"s and shoot .600 spine cut to 29.5"s with 175-190 grains up front and they fly perfect. Shawn
I am useing 33/55 cut 28 1/4 with 225 up front , works fine for me out of a 47 lber..
