Does anyone have any experience with the Magnus Buzcuts, 4-blade and 125grs? I was thinking about trying them for deer out of a 44# @ 28" hybrid longbow this fall. My arrows are 1916's, 29" long and weigh 505grs. Any comments would be appreciated.....DaveP
I use the 150s. No problem going through elk on a 550 grain arrow... They would be great on your light set up (bow weight) for deer.
I've used them in my compound days. They left great bloodtrails.
My only complaint is they require a few extra steps for sharpening.
Very good broadhead they are a bit of a pain to sharpen with the serrede. They are a very good choice.
I use the stingers and buzzcuts and love them. Same blood trails as the others, it all depends on where you hit them. I have to take them apart to sharpen but they sharpen up nicely so I don't worry about it much.
Good luck
Check your local regs before you go hunting with them. Some jurisdictions may stipulate that the edges are not serrated. Up until a couple years ago, it was that way in Ontario. They've recently changed the law to allow them, I think.
I have used the Buzzcuts before and took a pronghorn antelope with one. Mike Sohm (owner of Magnus) and I had spoke at the ATA show a couple of years ago and those are the heads he was using at the time. Good heads if you don't want to sharpen your own. Sharp out of the package, thats for sure.
Dave,
Funny you should mention these. I bought a set and they seem like a good broadhead. My only problem is I cant sharpen them all that well. I think its me though. I can get some old bear razor heads crazy sharp with my KME but not these (I am not saying they cant be sharpened with the KME or that these are bad heads, just operator error). With that said I was debating on giving them to someone and as luck would have it you wanna try them. Shoot me a PM or Email if you want them and I can send them to you. BTW they are the 4 blade 125gr version.
