Title: When Preparing for Hunting Season? Bow Quiver Users
Post by: Wannabe1 on July 17, 2011, 03:15:00 PM
So, when preparing your setup for hunting season, do you store your bow with the quiver on? And do you leave your hunting arrows in the quiver while practicing? Lately, I've just been leaving my bow so that when I grab it, it's just like I was ready to go hunting. Do you do the same?

I always have my huntingh arrows with my broadheads on in my quiver while I shoot. I practice the way I plan to hunt.

Yep, I try to shoot the majority of the time using the same setup as I will while hunting. Just don't see the need to practice with one setup and hunt with something different. Just my .02

My quiver stays on my bow year round. I like it as it adds some weight, quiets the bow, and I never leave my arrows behind   :o  .

Thanks, that's what I was wondering. It makes it a little hard to hang my bow on my rack with the quiver on but, I'm working around that issue. Becomes to much of a pain to have to take the quiver on and off.

That's the only problem I have found also. I just hang it on the other side.

Just like the fire service, train like you fight (hunt), Fight (hunt) like you train.  That way you'll never be confused.  Theoretically...

If you are going to hunt with a bow quiver you would be well advised to practice with it on fully loaded.

Thanks Bill, I have been doing that to get used to the weight. But, have been taking the arrows out after shooting. Gonna just leave them in from now on.

Yep, mine hangs in the shop strung and ready to go all of the time.  Quiver on and fully loaded, although the points are field points this time of year.

I do not keep the quiver fully loaded.  I always have one removed as that is the way it should be when you get the shot.  This is the way I store it and shot it.  Fully load it when you leave for the hunt.  If you have broadheads on you arrows, they will be getting duller every time you shoot.  Check them before your hunt, mine alwys need to be touched-up.
