Butchers twice a year.  Leave it "as is" for a dull finish during hunting season, reapply and buff it up for the off season shooting foam.

I refinished my bow with minwax paste. Came out perfectly, kept the stain color authentic and sealed the bow. I plan to apply it twice a year, three coats.

Here in our part of Oregon, we have a pretty wet late season. All of my bows get a good coat of Johnson's Paste Wax. Stuff works great and I've been out in some good down pours.

Sam, coupled with the bows finish, this just adds an extra layer of protection when out in heavy weather. If I lived in a lighter climate, I probably wouldn't even worry about it but, here in Oregon it makes perfect sense to be extra careful with your custom one of kind sweetheart!   :D

I used to use Johnson's Paste Wax on vehicles. This can't be the same wax or is it?

Probably, it's good on metal, leather, plastic and wood finishes. Original formula, comes in a round yellow tin can.

Word of warning! I also used Johnson Paste Wax 2 to 3 times a year and left it on Dull (unbuffed) during the hunting season but when you buff it off it will fill in or polish away a frost finish on  a BW bow trust me I know.  It doesn't harm it just leave a more shiner finish after you do this.  So if you want to keep that manufacture dull, satin, frost, or semi-gloss finish may ask your bowyer what he recommends.

Good point! I would hate for the satin finishes on both of my Blacktails to get real shiny.    :nono:

From the Black Widow site: "Widow Wax If you prefer the "Frost" finish of your Black Widow bow to have a smoother feel with slightly more sheen, simply apply a coat or two of Widow Wax periodically."
I think any wax on any truely flat finish will increase it's luster to some extent.

I use Jonhsons paste wax a couple times of year. When on hunting trips I'll carry bee's wax to use on any breaks in the finish that might happen while away from home.
