Thing is, I'm a Morrison man. To the very core of my being, I am a Morrison shooter.
Ask anyone, they'll tell you.
I'll tell you.
Ask me what I shoot. What's my go-to bow? Which bow would I grab if the house were on fire?
I'll tell you; My Morrisons. Cheyenne, Shawnee, ILF, I have 'em & I love 'em. End of subject, no question, period.
.
.
.
.
.
And then.....
I buy this stupid, cheap-***, Hoyt nock-off, Reflex Nomad riser. I fit it with a pair of bottom shelf, low end, Black Max ILF limbs.
I hate how it looks.
I hate the idea of a metal riser, compared to one of Bob's sculptured Cocobolo & Ebony risers.
I hate the 'gotta have' camo finish.
I hate all the cutouts & threaded inserts.
I hate the bolted on, plywood grip.
I hate how that nasty, cheap, plywood grip nestles so perfectly in my hand.
I hate how the cutouts make the bow balance so perfectly & weight so very little.
I hate the fact that the bow is utterly silent, dead in the hand & takes no silencers to make it so.
I hate the fact that all my arrows shoot like lazers out of the thing.
I hate the fact that my first 3 arrows formed a 2-½" triangle from 32 yards, right in the 10-ring.
.
.
.
.
Well, I'm trying so hard to dislike this damned bow that's worth about ¼ what my Cheyenne is worth, but shoots every bit as well, but it's just not possible!
GAH!!!
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Can we see a pic? :D
No........
's ugly.
How do those Morrison's feel about their ugly step sister???
:nono: :nono:
I'd say as long as she performs well in all positions...it's all good.
Sounds like she's one you could use and abuse and not have feelings of guilt haunt you.
well, well ,well, start to see that little sparkle....that little light. " i'll shoot what i shoot the best" says the light...." and it costs less" ...."but it is ugly and not custom !!"...but look at those groups ! .............it's like Buddhist enlightenment or finding a soul mate....don't deny it ....accept and go on enlightened and confident
Happened to me also......
Ugly bows need Lovin' too. :archer2:

Enlightenment's for hippies.
Shoot whatever works, everything else is just gloss.
Don't worry buddy, I'll slap the livin he!! out of ya tomorrow at the shoot! :knothead:
Nicely written, Rob, that's the loudest I have laughed in a good long while!
Maybe you could get Bob to whittle you an ebony grip for your new love... and don't be denying her, we can see the way you look at her. She makes you feel cheap and you like it! You even surprise yourself with your performance at the butts.
Go ahead, sigh, and relinquish yourself to your state. You are just a regular guy, like the rest of us. We have our aspirations, our hopes of refined glory, yes, we grow dreamy at the sight of Venus on the Half-Shell. But we marry the girl next door and find our glory in a pot of instant mac and cheese.
Human after all, dammit. :(
Killdeer
PS, Congrats on finding the bow you have been looking for! Selling any Morrisons? :bigsmyl:
Ooh! kuch said the same thing I did, but he made it sound...
elegant!
Wish I could do that!
Killdeer :goldtooth:
No selling the Proline. 3 decades can't miss beaut. Gotta shoot shooters.

:banghead: Good luck with that one. I'll watch the classifieds for a few Morrisons ;)

Ugly is as ugly does Mrs.Gump. Crazy isn't it.
Three thousand dollar golf clubs and $2 putter you picked up at a yard sale that once won the Little Rock mini put championship of 1978.
I had a Morrison, nice bow....sold it! Then I saw an ad for Metal ILF Morrison...had to try it. It's all that you said, Ugly, drilled and tapped for all kinds of stuff, goofy grip, Flat black on this one. Just ugly. Got some cheap Trad Tech limbs......gee it shoots good! I can't explain it :dunno: !!
She'll stick with you thru thick and thin ... briar patch and clear cut.
Might not want to take her to the waffle house though.
Rob, buddy, dont fight it, just give in to the dark side, i mean metal risers. I used to feel the same way, was a wood nut, from years of building custom trad muzzleloaders with curly maple, and black walnut, but after I got my first metal riser Quinn, I was hooked! Dont ask me how many I have now. I like the balacne of the metal risers, and the attachment holes. Also I dont worry a bout hurting the nice wood while crawling into a rough ground blind in a briar thicket. I assume the Hoyt bushings are working fine?

Perfectly Sam! Can't thank you enough, Brother.
Ooooh. Are you coming down to Twin Oaks this weekend?
Could always wood grain dip it....
They need to make a tribal tat dip.
Rob, put that soul-less piece of metal down and think about what you're doing for a second.
It's like you've left your smart, capable, beautiful, faithful wife of 25 years and gone down the street for a korean massage "therapist" and suddenly think you're in love.
Dude. Please.
Somebody had to say it.
HA!
The jagwaaaa

korean "message therapist"!! :clapper:
That's funny stuff right there!!
Rob, if you can't make fun of your buddies....who can you make fun of!!
....aaaa...what street is that again?..
I can send you my address and I can hide her for you. We need a picture of it.

Kerry :clapper: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
COLongbow, man, you've shattered his illusion, like waking someone up from a sleepwalk! Hope he's going to be OK.
Rob, Just spray paint it and think of it as a Morrison for the bed of your PU. The clanging around in the back will give it character & beauty :) Doc
Rob-It might make you feel better if you had Bob put some nice skins on the limbs. A small price to pay to make you appreciate that ugly bow. Of course, it probably would be better to stick with some nice limbstations. A little touch of class with an affordable price.
Brian

"The picture Rob The picture" We need to see a picture of "Ugly Betty The Metal Bow"
:saywhat: :help: :dunno: :nono:
Now I really wish I would have made the drive to TN so I could smack you back to your senses Rob. I knew this would happen if you hung around Don to long.
Send it to Billy Shipp for a www.camodip.net (http://www.camodip.net) makeover.
Yep, and that's all I'm gona say abou that.
Rob they make a wood grain looking duct tape. :knothead:
You can put all the makeup in the world on her but she still that ugly bow you are falling for. :nono:
Rob, there is one word that is coming to mind, it has been skirted around a time or to in various post, but since we could all be accused of being in a similar boat at one time or another I will, for once, I will be quiet!!!
rob denile is the first step to a full recovery ugly or not i think that bow loves you and your stuck so give her a good memory or two and dont break her heart
Killdeer, it was the Vodka talking last night....I may have actually hugged a hippie also...can't remember.....need to switch to rum
Get some blood on it and it all goes away
Killdeer, it was the Vodka talking last night....I may have actually hugged a hippie also...can't remember.....need to switch to rum
Now Kuch is repeating himself...senility or alcohol poisioning?
Rob, dear man and victor extrodinare of the poundcake wars...
Reading this thread I've got strains of an old country tune running through my head...somethin about..."I Like my women (bows?) a little on the trashy side!"
Can't get it outa my head...gotta go listen to something else...
Beauty (and ugly) is only in the eye of the beholder...(or is that "bowholder"?)
Rob, even a beautiful thing is never perfect! :archer2:
Kuch will be sober in the morning but that bow will still be ugly ...
HA!
I saw Rob's bow at the IBO's today. He threw her in the mud to show how tough she was. She might not be pretty but she sure can shoot. Looks are not everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That being said I fell in love with a pretty maccascar Zipper ILF that was at the shoot. She was dark and sexy and looked alot better than her cousin DAS sitting just across the tent. She could really fling an arrow, man she was a big tease. But that DAS kept whispering about what she would do for me.....ohhh the decision!!!!!!!!
David go with the zipper
I feel your pain Rob , I had a brief afair with a gamemaster, but I moved on to a more upmarket kinda girl. damm I miss her
Well by golly Son, that thing aint Traditional, is it ?? Oh well, could always use it for a boat anchor !!

That was plain contempt.
Nothing more that it deserved.
On the up side, it bounces well on gravel.....
Sounds like a great bow. Now shoot it!
If you shoot it well, then shoot it whats the problem,to much hype on expensive bows shoot what works for you.
Mules got the same reception at the thorough bred barn.
Just decide which one you would like to have your plow hooked up to...lol
God bless,Mudd
It takes a smart man to admit that something he thinks is ugly, shoots great for him. As my dear departed grandmother said once about one of my girlfriends I had as a teenager, knockout blonde, but batty as they come, " pretty is as Pretty does". If a bow is a natural shooter for you, be it wood or metal riser, that is the bow to stick with.
This bow reminds me of the Country/Western song "I like My Women A Little Trashy".
So one might say;
"I like My Bow A little Trashy"
Ken Denton
Well Rob, guess you could put red yarn silencers on it and affectionately call it the "Red-headed step something" (I'm in church so I should be good).
Go Roger, if you ever get a chance shoot a Bear's Paw, they are a bow of great beauty and a pure pleasure to shoot!!! ;) :D
I bet you get a good camo dipping on it and nobody will know the difference.
Life's too short to shoot ugly bows! LOL
Man I had the same thing with a BW, but it wasn't ugly.
I tried everything I could to dislike it. I did manage to sell it and I feel better now! hehehehe
I've said it before, if you can get past not having to have a pretty bow the basic metal ILF risers and cheap trad tech limbs are absolute killers!
Yeah, as a matter of fact, All Recurves, just shot a Diamond Anniversary B-Widder, still shoots, good thing it's got my Dads name on the limb or she'd been gone a long........ time ago ..... nothin Like Them "True" L/B's ... No matter how ugly ........
