Texas is a big state, name any bowyer from there and anything about there bows they make!!!mark :wavey:
Bob Sarrels just got one of his bows. Sweeet!
Roy Hall (Navajo bows) & Mike Palmer spring to mind....
Bob Lee, Mike Westvang ( Dryad ), Horne, Sweptwing, Quinn.
Mark Horne builds a superb bow too & aren't them Dryad boys Texicans?

Great plains. Awesome bows.
Horne. Brush country
Roy Hall from Navajo Bows. Great service and beautiful bows that are great shooters.
Great thread. I live here and didn't know about most of these guys.
The great BOB LEE bows hail from the lone star state.
Roy Hall, dont own one of his bows but have a buddy who has two. Both good lookers and shooters. A navajo is definatly on my wish list.
I've owned Bob Lee and Horne's.Both are superb.Mine aint so bad either!!
Ron Foley Foleycustombows in Groesbeck, do not own one but have shot one of his recurves and it was awsome.
Milton Callaway of 21st Century Longbows
I have to throw Bob Lee's name in again. The bows Bob and Rob make are top of the line. If I could afford another, I'd get another.
Bob Sarrels, he makes a beautiful bow that shoots as good as it looks
Bobby Lutkenhaus makes a fine bow. predatorlongbows.com
Tim Scott of SAVAGE Bows. Nice bow and a good shooter
Dryad bows, "wingnut" on here.. very nice people to deal with and pretty bows..
They are a sponsor on here.. look them up..
Ive gotten 3 bow blanks from them.. want to get a Orion from them one day...
Good guys!!!!!!
Ken
Need to make a trip to the new Bob Lee HQ in NE Texas! Looks like it would be worth it.
There's also Arvin from Central Texas who's been known to make self bows. I don't have his contact info, but he and his wife post in the trad section of Texasbowhunter.
Also, I know they're no longer in business and haven't been too popular in some of the trad forums, but I have a Siege Work Creations 30# red oak board selfbow that I snagged off e-bay for dirt cheap that shoots really well.
Anyway, good to hear of so many bowyers in Texas.
Foley and Bob Lee...anyone remember Parker bows...what man!!!
There's also a gentleman in Huntsville, Texas named Roland jenkins that makes bows as well.
Mark & Sandy Horne. Horne's Archery. They make some great bows that are simply stunning to look at and shoot. At the Texas State Longbow shoot there are alot of Hornes tradtional longbows that are in the top twenty archers that "buckle". Shoot is kinda the "proving ground" for longbows and his bows always shine.
I have to give another vote for Mark and Sandy Horne. Quality is only surpassed by the people. Also don't know that anyone mentioned great plains in pampa TX. The Texas long curve they make is pretty cool.
Zane
gotta give another thumbs up for Bob Lee
There's a bunch. Said before, but Bob Sarrels makes some way slick trick longbows. Recurves too. Near forgot Mike@Dryad. Class both.
Roy Hall!!!!! cant go wrong with a navajo :archer2:
I like Bob Sarrels, Roland Jenkins and Mark Horne!! Foley also makes a good bow. also their is brush country bows.
Arvin Weaver makes and sells some really nice selfbows. He even has a nice fast self recuve and the only selfbow I know with a bowbolt 2 piece selfbow!!
I have a Roy Hall bow. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
Is someone saying good bows are made outside of Oregon?Come on now!!!(grin)
God bless Ya'll Steve
Lots of good bowers in Texas. Dryad and Horne are good to to work with, I'm sure the above mentioned are as well. You have a lot of good ones to pick from.

another plug for Sarrels. I see a lot of his creations on another forum and they're nice. Also, my buddy owns one and I like it!
Roy Hall
I have 2 of them and would buy more!

Bob Sarells Bows are some of the best I have ever shot and I own one.
He Lives in South Austin. Just a 60 - 80 minute drive up IH - 35 and you can have one of the best bowyers in the world make you a custom bow.
Matt
Do you mean David Oakes, Hill Country Bows, in San Antonio, Makes a real nice bow, kind of an odd fellow.
McK
Agree with McK. He is a bit odd but makes a fine bow :bigsmyl: ...Van
yeah,,,david Oakes...ya nailed it... :)
I have to give another  for Ron Foley.
Dan
Ron, is truly a diamond in the rough, Texas bowyers...are the real deal...marco#78
Ron Foley is truly a great bowyer and a super nice guy. I won these two longbows (custom made for me) that he donated to the Compton Dream Raffle a couple of years ago. They are works of art and sweet shooting bows. The three-piece longbow killed a whitetail the first fall I had it, and the one-piece longbow killed a nice Merriam's tom this past spring here near my home.

I think Bill Foreman with Great Plains is a great guy as well. He used to hunt up here in SW Colorado. I own a small retail business and have sold his bows here locally for many years. Every time I order a nice longbow for myself I wind up selling it to a customer so I don't own a bow of his personally yet. But he makes some really nice longbows and recurves.
Mike
Had the honor of shooting a couple of Milton Callaway's 21st Century Longbows at the IBO Trad World. Actually shot numerous bows, however the 21st Century experience is still being replayed and replayed. Mitlon was extremely friendly,, knowledeable and accommodating. Choosing between the 66" and the 70" was toss up. Both were extremely smooth, balanced, extremely pointable, quick shooters and hit where I looked.
I am quite sure they are a dream bow for many.
Bill Foreman: Great Plains Traditional Bow Co. ;Pampa, Texas. Creater of the SR Swift Blackhawk.
R. P. Mitchell
Ron Robinson, Sporting Chance Bows was in Llano. I don't know if he still is or not. Never had any dealings with him.
Anyone know him?
Brute killer,
Yes, my first and still favorite custom bow was by Ron around 1995. It was the most beautiful looking and performing r/d longbow I have ever shot. As far as I know he is still in LLano.
I believe I have his e-mail address still.
McK
David Neidigh of Renegade Archery, Inc., Athens, Texas. David builds a few longbows a year, including the Spirit I and II and a take-down. Pete Ward reviewed David's Spirit II.
Went to visit with Bob Sarrels a couple times over the last few weeks and learned a few tips and tricks. Really improved my own bow building skills. Great guy and I would have to agree he makes some nice longbow and recurve bows. He is pretty handy with a charcoal grill too. Hahaha. Met Arvin and his wife Deb this weekend, he is definately the one to talk to if you're looking for a selfbow.
Oh man! there is a bunch of them, Bob Lee has to be in the top (5) :notworthy:
There are some good bowyers in Texas for sure but I still miss Jeff Massie. Jeff's "Longhorn" is still at the top of my list for looks, shootability, and performance. Sure wish he was still building bows.
"...in the great state of texas" is this a TRICK question? texas, that LITTLE state, baaa-hhaaa-hah-ha.....
Let us not Forget , Jeff Massie and his Longhorn Bow. It's too bad Jeff isn't in the business any more. Some of my best and most memorable Javy hunts were with Jeff, and his Catahoula Jenny. Not to mention time around the campfire telling stories with him and Tio Kleberg on the ol' Running W, the King Ranch for those who don't know the brand. Cazadores de Tejas, Sutty
Bill Foreman, great bowyer, a and fine gentleman.
Lucky Eddie Johnson..... :dunno:
