I just received my St.Judes "prize" from GRINCH - a Cat Quiver 1 (I believe is the model). I've always wanted to try one of these and this years' Auction provided the opportunity. And it's like brand new!
I like how the fletching is covered and the arrows seem to remove easily and stay put (so far, anyway).
What is the technique for arrow replacement? After a shot, it seems nearly impossible to replace the arrow without removing the quiver. Is that it or is there a trick to learn?
It's easy if you have eyes in the back of your head...lol! I have never mastered putting arrows back in. I do like the way they carry. For most folks Cat Quivers are a love hate thing....you love'm or you hate'm. I have a mini Cat and its a bit better to put them back. My other is a Cat II with the pouched belt and water bottle set up!
Hey Tom, I have a catquiver 1 also and I really like it but it is a pain to get the arrows back in with it on for sure. The first arrow is ok but the fourth or fifth when the hood is already filled with fletching is nearly impossible. Also need to remove the quiver if you want to sit for a rest, but other than those two things it works very well. Good luck.....Shawn
And a third thing. The BH's are exposed on one side. Very dangerous!!! I don't use it anymore, cut the heck out of my shooting hand.

I also hate putting an arrow back in but for hunting I love it having it tied to my pack. I have a one arrow holder on my bow for my judo so it is handy when something catches my eye.
I'll have to take pix, But I turned My cat1 into a side/back quiver.
Tom, I love my catquivers but they do take some getting used to. Like anything that is new and unlike anything you are used to you have to make a commitment to using it in order to feel comfortable. For me, I started using it everytime I went to the range or out to stump shoot. As far as broadheads are concerned, I just learned to reach around and find the upper part of the shaft with my hand first and slide down till I reached just behind the broadhead. Once you get the hang of it you will find putting the broadheads back easy as well. Good luck with it.
Replacing arrows back into the Catquiver is just a repitition thing. The more often you use the quiver the better you'll be at replacing the arrows. I have the 1&2 and once you are used to them I think you'll like it.
I am with DennyK and Raminshooter. I have CQ2 and still use it periodically depending on circumstances. Once you get used to taking arrows out safely and replacing them it really becomes a nonissue for some. The nice thing is because you can keep all your hunting supplies in it you can just grab it, and your bow and you're off. I tend to use mine more when it rains or in thicker cover to keep fletching from getting wrecked. I also have a Safari Tuff but just can't get it to work as well for me like some of the folks here who love them.
I have to agree with everybody that says once you get used to it youll like it. I have had one for awhile now. I am with Ken, the great thing about the CQ2's is if you keep all your gear in them its makes things real quick to head to the woods. I struggled at first with mine as well.

I have used one for the last 15 years. I like it a lot. It does take practice. I did eliminate the horizontal or belt strap. And, I only carry four arrows while hunting. Jon
I feel it's just a minor inconvience but I remove my Catquiver and replace the arrow. It's no big deal and takes less than one minute.
Thanks, guys. All encouraging comments. I'll get to work getting used to it. It really feels secure back there, fletch covered and the little pack for the necessities. You're right Joe, it really isn't a big deal, I was just wondering if I was missing something.
I taped the side I do not draw on to solve the safety issue. I made one of aluminum too when I travel by air. It is custom and I like it a lot but seldom use it due to the arrow replacement issue. I was selling the one from the factory
