Post by: Chub on July 14, 2011, 07:23:00 AM
looking for suggestions.i recently tuned my bobleeusing cx 150s.My shafts are 29in tip wt is 145 so in need of a screw in set of blades .Im interested in magnus or zwickeys .Iv been thinking about the z eskimo 125 but i under stand the short alum adapters 25gr are used for a 4 blade . I would like a 2 blade in the 150 range.A long insert is 42 that would put me around 167gr This woul be my first time using glue on brheads with inserts.would you have any suggestions for me .Thank you in advance!

How 'bout a Magnus Stinger 150grn. either 4 or 2 blade?  Great broadheads out of the package and no fooling around with an adapter.

the Zwicky black diamond is lighter and would get you to your weight.

The Zwickey doesn't use a blade insert (The bleeder blades are bent up from the ferrule.) so you can use long point adaptors with them.

X2 on the Magnus Stinger  .... great head and won't break the bank if you are experimenting.

I would suggest you consider the Zwickey Eskalite, either 2 or 4 blade version which is a 5/16" head and weighs about 115.  Use a long 5/16" adapter (30 grains or so) and bingo you're right where you want to be.

Magnus makes/made a screw in magnus 2 that weighs 140gr.. The Zwickey Eskalite, mentioned above, would not be a bad way to go either, and would be my choice since I prefer to orient my broadhead a certain way.

Don't forget to look at the Zwickey No Mercy.  Mention, but not by U STOS.  Just by looking at this BH you can see it will out penetrate the others.

Most of all don't forget to clean the ferrule with acetone.

My PH asked me why I was shooting a two blade when everyone I was with were using 3 blades.  I mention something about Ashby and penetration. And he said, "Ashby has his own agenda.  We like 3 blades, because they leave a better blood trail."

Stingers would be a great choice. Although a 100 grain Magnus II with a 75 grain steel adapter is a bit stronger and I dought the extra 25 grains will make a difference in tuning.

zwicky eskimos or deltas are around 130-135 grain, with a 25 grain insert your at 155-160 gr. 5-10 Gr would be hard to notice in flight.

I started using Magnus Stingrs because of the responses I've seen by the company on other sites. Time after time when someone posted that they had a Magnus fail they would offer to buy it back or replace it so they could see why it failed.
