After reading that spit balls was one of Howard Hills favorite past times, I found that carbon shafts make a great spit ball tube.... Introduced my 7year old to it and she had fun....
How do you re-use your broken shafts?
keep a few on hand to make sharpening easier.
i like the spitball idea!
i use bent aluminums for my cherry tomatoes
Use them for my turkey decoys, cause i am always looseing the stakes that came with the decoys.

Same here. I cut old carbons in half then glue a slightly larger diameter piece of aluminum to one end, kind of like a footing but leave about an inch or two of over hang. This way you can break the stake down into two pieces for easy transport.
Take the nock ends and cut them 4" long and drill holes into a piece of wood and epoxy them in.they make great coat, hat or bow racks. And always keep a short nock end for tying nock points on it makes a great guide. And the aluminum arrow pieces can be made into a wind chime with an old broadhead (dull of course) as the center piece for them to clng against.
When I did some offshore fishing I would take a aluminum shaft around 12" long and file one end sharp with a file. I used it to remove the eyeballs from my Ballyhoo when I preped them for a days fishing offshore
threatening the coon dogs!
Foot carbons with alum, made a bow rack with alum and am going to try making turkey call strikers with carbon. Course these are all other peoples broken arrows
i cut my alums into different lengths and make them into wind chime/sculptures. :campfire: don

They prop up my bag target when the target is on the ground. It makes it easy for me to move the bag target around to different spots like just peaking out from behind a bush.
I have never lost or broken an arrow in my life. :biglaugh:  Sorry I just wanted to see if I could get through that with a strait face.NOPE, Could not do it!

I'm with mrjsl
I also use them as tomatoe stakes.
I've made a few into short pieces for sharpening b-heads and spin testing b-heads that I glue onto adapters, I just finished making a coat rack for my apartment with a few shorter pieces for the pegs and 2 longer pieces I fletched up and put on the ends; it looks pretty good. I've also used them as a mag plug for my waterfowling bow ;)
Just thought of this: It seems like a good way to carry a few matches in a short piece by sealing off one end and using a tight fitting nock on the other.
Edit: The more I think about this I think I'm gonna make one and drill a small hole through the nock so it can be worn as a keychain or necklace.
If you have enought shaft? Make them up for the KIDS!!
MAKE THEM UP FOR THE KIDS!
I use 'em close to a foot long, put on pink wrap and 5" pink feathers left full height. I slip this over the wife's antenna on the top of her car so she can find it in parking lots. That pink really stands out.... :bigsmyl:
I tape reflective tape to the end and use them as driveway marker in the winter. I stick and arrow in the ground about every 15 to 20 yds or so. My driveway is about 400 ft long. Usually the snow is not over 18 inches here in Ohio. Works great, looks just like driving down airport runway at night.
I use them to fill up an empty box I had laying around...
I have a strap on "mini" bow quiver and couldn't keep it from loosening up while hunting, so I used a old shaft to connect the two. You can cut to preferred length and put a insert in each end, the bottom section of a mini bow already has a screw in it, just need to replace with one that is longer and matches insert threads , for the top I drilled a hole dead center all hte way through( there is a metal liner) and placed a stainless screw into insert. Makes a very stable strap on quiver, and you can use any type and color shaft you choose
If they are 2ft long glue 3in alum shaft cut lenghwise into one end.Push other end into another 2ft piece and you have a 4ft pole for a bind.Witch will take down to 2ft.4 poles plus 12ft camo net makes a nice follup blind.

Do your wives actually let you guys put this stuff in the house? lol.
I really like it, but my wife makes pretty well sure that my archery stuff/hunting stuff/ etc. stays out of site in the main part of the house.
I also put reflective tape on them and use to track blood trails at night. Just stick them in the ground every so often and you shine your light on them to see which way the trail is going also marks the blood trail and the last part of blood. in case you think you need to wait till day light. I've to do this When my light go to dim to see.
throw them in a box.. sentimental pieces if i ever wanna reflect on "which deer was that" or "remember that hunt when i..."

i have one wall that i am allowed to hang stuff on. don
We do alot of shooting around my house, mostly arrows, but firearms too.
A fun target to shoot at with both, are brightly colored paintballs. A red paintball supported by a cut off aluminum or carbon shaft that is stuck in the ground makes for a challenging target. It would amaze you to watch my kids shoot arrows at a .68 caliber paintball perched on a cut off arrow shaft. They rarely hit the paintball, BUT, the resulting near miss will make for a short bloodtrail every time. :D
Good tomato stakes too.
I use them to fill up a corner in the closet.
Besides footing my carbons I use them as gasket punches.
Cut using a basic copper pipe cutter will leave a nice sharp edge.
I use them to punch holes in leather too. Collect a range of diameters.
Brace Height Check. Cut one to your brace height add nock. Keep in quiver pocket , bag etc. Nock on string to the deepest part of the grip.
Get two same length, nock them and install a tip. Push in ground inside your blind to hold the longbow. Ready when you are and handy
I was using mine for tomato stakes and the neighbor kids were swiping them and playing with them. I caught them and gave them some instead of having them screw up my matos next thing I knew I had all the moms around madder than hell for giving there chillins sharp sticks.Thing sure have changed since I was a kid. Frank
Plug the ends with rubber caps found at hardware store and they make great speed loaders for your 22 rifles that are tube fed.
