Title: KME AND MUZZY PHANTOMS
Post by: MIKE WIRT on July 11, 2011, 05:35:00 PM
First off, I ordered the KME Broadhead sharpener and can't wait til it comes in. After I placed my order, The owner, Ron, called me that night! If this is any indication of the level of customer service his company gives, I will be a long time customer indeed.

I would like some feedback on Muzzy Phantom broadheads. Pros-cons, has anyone sharpened them on the KME sharpeners? Any info would be great.

That is STANDARD customer service from Ron. What does that tell you about him? The guy is genuine.

Mike  which one did you order. Dia. or stone ? With the dia. you should be able to get them sharper than new out of the package. You could also do it with the stone but is a little moretime consuming.

I use the Phantoms for turkey hunting and it took me a few years to really figure out how to get them sharp. Use a black sharpie marker and mark the cutting edges until covered. Then get a big bastard file and make the first strokes with the KME on it. The black marker will let you know when you have a consistent edge. Those blades are so hard this edge angle is critical in getting them sharp. Finish them up on the stones.

Another call to Ron would be highly recommended as these are some of the toughest heads to get sharp.

the Muzzy Phantoms are an awesome head in my opinion. They shoot just like my field points and man do they make a hole. I also have the Muzzy Broadhead sharpener which does great on the Phantoms. The bear in the pic didn't make it 30 yards after a Phantom hit him behind the shoulder. I've seen some wicked blood spraying from deer after a Phantom got'em.
