What does everyone use to test their BROADHEADS on? I prefer a big mound of clean dirt but have also used styrofoam blocks- my favorite thing to test them on is of course whatever game I'm currently pursuing LOL

I use a 24"X24"X3"-4" block of mini cell foam.The arrows go through but usually stop before the fletching.They are easy to pull out or you could even unscrew the broadhead first if you wanted to.Single bevels turn even after passing through so it is an easy matter to line them up with the slit in the back of the slab and pull them on through.
I use a regular Block target (or any type like it), if I could use a pile of sand, I would.
I have an american whitetail broadhead target that has lasted me longer than any target I ever had. Its a pain to pull field tips out of but broadheads are easy.

I use a 'Black Hole' target, supposed to be good for broadheads...but I wish it was more durable. Cut-on-contact broadheads seem to really chew them up.
Use a Rienheart but the best is the Blob if you can put it in a permanent place. Google it
I have a buddy that shoots nothing but broadheads and he cuts form targets to fit in pizza boxes. Cheap, easy and very portable
I shoot zwickey eskimo because the back of the head is sloped and allows it to be pulled out of a round bail. Magus is another that will pull out. I shoot wood and they are glued good. If the back of the head is square they are hard to pull out. I have seen a inserts pull out, but I have no trouble with the eskimo.
I bought one of those blob targets they work great but really dull a broadhead.LCH

Jim where do you get your foam?
I use a Rinehart Broadhead buck 3d target. I find I shoot better on animals if I am use to looking at their shape. It helps me to remember to Pick A Spot and shoot them right where it's supposed to go. I will admit I still get excited and rush things a bit.
Steadman,to be honest I don't remember,I think a boat site.If you do a search for mini cell foam,you will find plenty of places.I shoot bows from 50-55 # and heavy carbon arrows and a 3" slab will stop those arrows about 2/3rds of the way in.It will stop most 10 gpp arrows out of 60 # bows.4" thick would give added insurance.A side note is that it's the perfect foam for inside the hood of bow quivers.I can cut out the quiver foam on a band saw and shape with rasp and sandpaper.It carves and rasps really well.Once you see it,it is obvious that many quiver makers are using it.What I have done is buy two slabs and when the center of one wears out,make a new center by cutting the second slab into 4 equal squares.That makes 4 replacement centers.I use several straight pieces of coat hanger wire to stab through the side of the target slab,into the new center to hold it in place.
This place shows 3"x24"x48" for $36 and the 4" for $47.That makes (2) 24"x24" targets or one target and 4 extra 12"x12" centers.

I am quite interested in the responses and positive experiences found regarding broadhead targets.
As mentioned several times before, my experience in shooting a 51@28 bow utilizing a 29.5"...400gn up front... tot wt of 615 gns ...Big 3 BH and 32% Ultra-EFOC arrow completely disintegrated a new 18 in 1 Rhinehart BH target in 3 ½ weeks. This particular BH target has a one year warranty. This experience has motivated me to shoot a less lethal arrow. Could only imagine what a high powered set-up would do. All I know is that I couldn't afford it unless shooting into a bank or sand type backstop was my desired option.
Only took a couple of weeks to shoot thru a brand new layered Eagle target with field points. Both the Rhinehart and the Eagle targets were in the $90.00 range. An upper quality target will stand up better to these arrows with field points, but even a Morrell Outdoor Range's longevity is severely challenged.
I have sent cordial correspondences directly to Rhinehart not to complain, not to acquire a new target nor to recoop my money, but to raise awareness that there could be an influx of claims if others started shooting similar arrow designs. Rhinehart has continued not to respond.
Hope that a more viable, yet affordable option emerges from this thread.
Rinehart 18-1 is a fantastic Broadhead target, I've had mine 2yrs and just chewed the centre from one face, just another 17 to go ;)
Friend,my Victory arrows are almost a mirror image of yours.The 3" thick slab of mini cell foam stops them in about 21".Eventually it will get cut up enough that some will pass through.I then replace the center as outlined above.
I forgot to say that when using it for quiver foam,I make holes in the foam as a start for my broadheads to keep them even.It is a simple matter to grind the starter holes with a Dremel.
The stuff has a million other uses.I haven't discovered them all yet but I'm working on it.
Thanks JimB -I most definately need to investigate and evaluate your proposal. My field pts have been consistantly shooting thru my well used Morrell Outdoor range. Switched to a 100 gn lighter arrow at ~28% EFOC several weeks ago and none of them have penetrated the target(~1000 rounds).
Also, the Blob target has peaked my interest now for some time.
