Does anybody remember the Gull Bow made by Dan Quillian? It was one of the first hybrid longbows that I can remember. Does anybody have one? Or has anybody ever shot one?
I'm sure Don Stokes might have shot one or know of the whereabouts...when I was dealing Quillian bows that radical design wasn't too popular with my customers. I never got one in the shop because the Canebrake and Patriot were my top sellers.
Dan designed the Gull for folks with a long draw, and backset the handle to get more action out of the limbs, which gave it the "gull" profile. It was long, I think 72". I shot one in his shop, but I preferred the Bamboo Longhunter at 68". I don't think he sold many of the Gulls.
Old Dan put one in my hands many moons ago and said "here try this one out"
It was about 75-80# at release it was like dropping a big rock in a pond. the ripple effect just kept shaking and shaking. My whole body shook, that bow needed an off switch on it.
I had several Quillian bows and liked them all except for this one
My uncle gave me a Gull Wing. Is that what your talking about? I had never heard of them until he handed it to me. I can post pics of it later if you would like.
He is talking about a longbow. I have a Wing Gull that is a recurve. The Gull longbow was distributed by Dan Quillian.
Alrighty thanks, sorry I can't be any help.
