I have been working on form all spring and summer, shooting a few pounds lighter, last 3 weeks shooting only my hunting bow and arrows, shooting bh's some also. Am seeing a ton of deer, as I thought I would, due to record mast crop last year. I have seen 3 brusier bucks in the past week, several small bucks and tons of does. The big bucks I saw were, 2 in front of 2 of my go to permanent natural blinds!! They still have a lot of growing to do, but all three are between 130-160 inches, I looked at them good through a spotting scope from 200 yds, estimated close, then took off 10 inches. I dont really worry about inches or book score, but seeing great bucks gets anybody fired up. Wife is getting fired up too. I have been working over my/her hunting equipment, set a couple of stands, cut some shooting lanes, sharpened broadheads, made new bow strings and strecthed them in. I cant wait, 7 weeks baby!
I'll be making a trip down to KY this year for fall turkey and I am looking forward to that. 'Been seeing some nice bucks up here too. It is great to have things to look forward to to slow down the passage of time.
Best of luck,
I started getting ready in January....lol!
Never got unfired from last season. LOL
YES.
Yep, I forgot the turkeys, saw 3 flocks the other day around my corn field, at one time, lots of young ones with hens, and saw 3 gobblers together a week agon by the same blinds I saw the bucks by! I enjoy our fall turkey season nearly as much as the deer season.
0Been fired up sionce the last deer season closed (well, maybe a week or two after....)
I'm ready too!! Should be all warmed up when I get back from chasing elk in CO- then I'll have a week to rest n organize gear before it opens up here in MO.

Heck yeah I've got only 84 days till WV archery season. :archer2:
I love the early season here is WI. It is beautiful and warm and the deer are undisturbed and predictable. Then later you have the rut and the cold weather hunting to look forward to. Almost like two seasons here...
Im excited got a few new bows and I have been shooting alot
Not me. I am just hanging out. I suppose in 77 days 11 hours, 58 min and 30 seconds I will be in the woods and have an arrow nocked and be ready for the opener here in Ohio. !

38 days I'll be sitting in my blind waiting for one of these, or both, as I have buck and doe tags.
Then on Sept 1st, watch out deer and elk, here I come. :jumper:
We always open here in TN the last Sat in Sept. Usually in the 90's and misery with the skeeters and heat. I have tried to sit out the opener the last few years to keep from spooking them with all the extra scent but very hard to sit at home thinking someone else is out there huntin !
You know, I get so busy in the fall that I haven't hunted for the last 2 seasons now, and I really don't miss it.
What ceme24 said!
56 days. I'm shooting just two bows now.
Opener a little over a month away here, 8/15. Have 5 stands already hung. Excited! You have got to love it a lot to put up with the heat, mosquitoes, ticks, redbugs and snakes in the south. Hogs and deer beware.
Nope!

Well, maybe a little....
You bet I am getting fired up.
Gotta live for the season even if it is still 90 degrees.
Our season doesn't open until Oct.1. You guys are lucky but I am not sure I would want to hunt in the warm weather. Our moose season opens the middle of Sept. and it is often too warm for the first two weeks. :dunno:
Mike I don't know how you can do it, missing a season like that much less two! I missed one deer season about 6 yrs ago when I was building my house and it about killed me not going. I took 1 shot at a deer out of the basement of the new house and that was the jist of my season! As for the question at hand YES, been getting my gear together and checkin it out gonna put the camerea in a few new spots and see if thats where I want my stands at this year. I have been shooting my hunting bow for a couple months now and put a practice stand up in the back yard last week. Lets do it!!
October first here on Manitoulin as well! Going to start some serious scouting soon.
I hate summer,bring on Oct!
I have emergency hernia surgery this Monday... and the reason it's an emergency is 'cause I gotta do it quick so I'll be at 100% to hunt deer in October!
Archie
I'm headed south, to Florida in Sept, for a combo deer / hog hunt, and I can't wait. I've been to Florida 3x in the past 15 years (Disney, Spring break, etc.), and each time thought, "I would love to hunt that swampland." So this year I am! Being a Yankee, I'm sure the heat will get me, but I'm psyched! I'm also planning on locating a couple of Cuban cigars!!!!
I'm still trying to pick a bow. It gets harder every year, but I'm leaning toward something Rose Oak.
I'm fired up even though our season doesn't open until October.
Are open aug 19 and to say in fire up would be a understatement been hike about 2 to 3 mile 3 times a week and shooting the hunting rigg and checking out the gear will be off work for 11 day backpacking in my spot for a 2 day at a time . Good luck to all
Looking forward to it. I'm preparing by sitting on the deck naked at dusk and building up my mosquito tolerance. I much prefer the time around Halloween, but go whenever I get the chance.
I'm shooting everyday, getting ready to build a few blinds and put out some late summer/fall food plots. I leave stands in certain places every year. Also headed to MN in Sept for a black bear hunt. I am more than excited for absolutely any reason to be in a tree with a stick and a string after any critter.
Here in Ky, we open Sept.3, I cannot wait!
Yes but am also looking for ward to next weeks snapping turtle opener ;) And getting after Carp again.
My son walked up to me yesterday with a big grin on his face and said "Only a bit over 2 months to go". He is 28 and his excitement its still the best part of it all!
I think about it every time the sun sets....

Getting excited! Ready for this heat to break!
I am ready,But my Elbow isn't.
Gonna hang trail cams next week. Wish it wasn't 101 here every day!
Some of my friends fish all summer long.
I start getting ready for deer season!
Brett

The day after it closes I'm fired up for next year.
