Title: Easton Arrows
Post by: richbat on July 08, 2011, 06:32:00 AM
Does anyone know if Easton made a shaft that was either all olive green or just plain green,i'm thinking on adding this to my post for trading my Gold Tips.

For years the gamegetter shafts were olive green.
Don't know about now.

Were the old alluminium gamegetters all green ,before they went black  ????? . I have just bought a dozen, but they are black now . You can get them from 3Rivers archery and lancaster archery for under $40 .

Those old olive green gamegetters were soft anodized. After a few shots, the green color towards the point tip started to wear off.

Was the anodizing the only thing different?

They were not made of 7075 alloy.  Cannot remember what the alloy number was.  They were "softer" than XX75's (would bend much easier).  And if my memory hasn't gotten too bad, there was a time when Gamegetters were a welded tube shaft rather than seemless extrusion.
My brothers first arrows that he ever bought over 25 years ago were the olive green gamegetters and he still has a few of them.  The front 1/3 of the arrow is bright silver from the finish wearing off.

Early GGs were a softer alloy and they bent pretty easily. Later they were made with the XX75 alloy and are marked as such. These GGs are just as strong as any other XX75 shafts.............

So you're telling me that people used to actually shoot aluminum arrows?    :goldtooth:

Hermon, that was what I was thinking. Different alloy.

The original Gamegetters were of an alloy called 24SRT X, They were introduced in the early 1970's.

They did bend easily, but they were easy to straighten in the field.

I have about 100 or so of them in Red anodizing.

Charles.

I got a bunch of the old olive green gamegetters. The front third are plain aluminum now. The more paint that wore off the better they seemed to shoot.

Thought the old Gamegetters were 6060 aluminum. I never bought any, though. XX75's are much tougher with a better anodizing.
