I'm considering trading one of my recurves for a Fox Royal Crown longbow. The bow arrived in yesterdays mail and I just had to "bend those limbs" a little bit. This bow is 64" long and I'm pretty sure that the woods in the riser are either cocobolo and osage or cocobolo and canary wood.........the limb veneers are myrtle. This bow is a flat out "performer".........I couldn't believe how hard it shot for only being 48# @ 28". I am drawing it to 29 3/4".......but it really humps an arrow downrange.
I found the grip to be very repeatable and very friendly to the way I shoot. Has anyone else had any experiences with one of Ron Kings bows ??? I'm hoping the guy that I am trading with is as happy with the recurve as I am with this longbow. If not, we will swap back. I was just curious as to what other people think about the Fox line of bows.

Winterhawk1960 - If you hadn't taken that bow, I would have. I kept hesitating because I don't really need another bow right now but Ron makes a very popular line if bows that are very highly thought of. You got a good one there. Good luck with it and enjoy letting the arrows fly. jwingman

I had the opportunity to shoot a Triple Crown a couple of weeks ago at the CTAS High Country Shoot. It shot very well and as you said the grip was very repeatable.
Jeff (Elkwhisperer)is the gentelman that let me shoot his bow. It is a 68" bow and butter smooth at 49@28" (I believe). Jeff draws it to around 30" and was shooting 600gr arrows everyone commented on how quick and quiet it was.

There must be "something" in the water out on the northwest coast.......I haven't shot a bow from out there that I didn't like from the get-go. Eventually, I'll get my hands on one of his High Sierra's......or just order myself one. :bigsmyl:

I haven't taken any pictures of the bow as of yet. If the guy that I am doing the trade with is happy with the recurve that I sent to him to try out........I promise to take and add some to this thread. Actually, I just spoke with Ron King and I'm pretty sure that the wood in the riser isn't osage......but is canary wood. Either way.........it looks real good.

PS......cocobolo and osage look pretty good together, but osage darkens over time and the canary wood doesn't as much.
i have four of Ron's bows. 1 royal Crown Cocobolo and Osage!!
2 high sierras and 1 two pc breed.
Ron makes great equip and is a super guy to know!
I have a High Sierra made by Ron. It is one heck of a good bow. Smooth and quick.
i had an early fox reverse handle and traded it like an idiot.. It was an exceptional bow, wish i had it back.
Winterhawk1960, I think I know that bow also, I was drawn to it but was concerned it would not handle my 31" draw very well. Congrats on the deal.
I have a Triple Crown, cocabola riser and bamboo limbs, conventional longbow, cocabola riser and juniper veneers on limbs, and I just ordered another longbow with rosewood/bacote riser with yew limbs. I like Fox bows, Ron is a great craftsman and a gentleman to deal with. The bows are smooth to draw, quiet, and excellent on performance.
Don,I got a fox 2 piece takedown a while back in a trade with Tater.I don't know what model it is ,its 64",60#@28" and performs better than any longbow I've shot.The workmanship is second to none.The Risers Cocobolo with Bamboo cores and Yew skins.the little extra weight of the sleeve takedown seams to really add to stability .
I had a Triple Crown also. I thought it was a good bow. For me the grip just wasn't what I was looking for. When I shot a Toelke Whip that did it for me...had to have one.
