How much snake skin would you need for a 64" bow?....meaning, 2 32" snakes? or can you get more out of one snake by splitting down the middle?
I don't have any experience with snake skin bows other than liking the way they look. It might be something I'd like to try some day.
Measure the limbs not the bow length.you have the riser length in there that u won`t need
Hey TexAg, check out "How to---Resources" on this site, "Skinning a Wapiti build along". It'll take you through the process with pics and detailed instructions.
Depends on what type of snake(pattern)you use and the width of your limbs and the width of the skin. I wouldn't split a snake like a diamondback. You'll lose the look of the diamonds. But you can split a skin like a cottonmouth or copperhead and still have it turn out good. Look at the back of your bow and decide what parts you want to cover with skin and measure them. I covered about 24" on my bottom limb, and 25" on my top limb on a 58" bow. I left the tip overlays and riser overlays exposed b/c that the way I liked how it looked.
You should give it a try. It is very easy and rewarding to do it yourself.
