I was just wondering how many of you guys just shoot and hunt with one bow. I normally swap back and forth shoot this shoot that. Well lately I’ve just been shooting my monarch longbow (I sold everything else as of now) and man my shooting went up big time and this is the bow I normally shot the worst. Anyway I think there might be something to sticking with one bow, anyone else have the same results.

Just one, Widow 64" PLX 42# @ 28.

I've found a longbow that I really shoot well (I've always considered myself a recurve guy and shot longbows just for kicks) and decided that this bow is the only one I'm shooting from now on. I got a deer with it and now going to see how good I do in the 3D shoots.

Waiting for my "one bow". Super Shrew!!!!
-
I hunt with just one bow....a horsebow i made from a "U-Finish" bow.
I found that i takes a awhile to get accurrate....so i just stick with the one for now.
-
I pick only one bow to hunt with each year. I build wood bows so I usually have plenty to choose from but once I make up my mind, that's the one I hunt with. I do usually have a back up in the wings just in case. Pat
-
One for me DAS kenetic recurve several sets of limbs!
Jordan
-
Yep, you're probably right. The problem is which one to keep.
-
Starkman I hear you lol
-
"Beware the man with one gun (or bow in this case)..."
I have been shooting bows for most of the last thirty years, and I've only ever owned two bows (and I still own them both - one compound, and one recurve).
-
I really admire you guys. I'm down to one bow Toelke whip, and I truly love it, but I'm gonna order another. A sister bow to this one, so to speak. I want a backup bow in same weight, length, etc...but with different woods. Don't know how to decide which to shoot. BTW, my wife must never see this thread. Anytime I tell her I need a bow I gotta tell her that's just how trad archery is, and a man needs a backup for security purposes.
-
Just one here..."Dorothy", is a 1999 model Black Widow, MAII, 64" 53#@30"
-
I used to and was hoping this Thunderstick III would be my go to bow, have two backups coming.....need help tuning the stinking thing!!!
-
I own a few bows but only shoot one.
At the moment it's my longbow,I shoot it every day, shoot field 3/D every Sunday and hunt big an small game year round. For me it takes about a year before I'm totaly satisfied with a bow.
I have a DAS Hunter arriving at the end of the month and it's going to be very hard to hang up the longbow as I've been shooting it three years now and it's like an extension of myself to shoot. When I say satisfied I mean I can call my shots before the arrow is in the air,and I'm genuinely supprised if I miss.
I can't do that changing bows,I just become average with them all doing that.
An that's not good enough,so one bow it is.
-
No sense buying a 2nd bow when the one I own shoots so well. My Rocky Mtn Recurve has served me well for many years and is still going strong. Couldn't imagine being without it.
-
I also own a couple of bows but shoot just one of them regularly. I don't have the time nor the talent to switch between bows and maintain any level of accuracy. It's hard enough for me with just one...
-bm.
-
Yep, just one bow. 64" Black Widow PMA II, 49 @32.
-
I've got a few bows & play with them all a bit from time to time, but only seriously shoot & hunt one. That is the one I practice & stump shoot with.
-
I was thinking of that exact fact for a week or 2 now. I have sold off a few bows and am down to 1 longbow ( 2 when i pick up my other one that was in for some minor rework) now.
I have shot nothing but it for the last month. My shooting has gone way up.
i do have a Chekmate Thunderbird on order that is a short 58", for turkey hunting and busting brush for bunnies.
But I just asked my bowyer Jim at Mississippi Lake Longbow to do what most bowyers would say is almost impossible- I want him to try to duplicate my go-to bow "Harmony"; or at least get it as close as he can.
Same woods, length, weight, lams and tapers, everything as close as he can.
This bow will be shot now and then , then hung in wait if ( God forbid) something ever happened to Harmony.
I shold have done this in the 1st place... Live and learn eh?

Like said before,I pick one for the year and stay with it,but ya gotta have a backup, just in case!!
-
Just one here finally PLX52@28- .......but I really want to try a Diamond SS or MOAB or a MAG or a Whip or ............darn it ........it never ends...........
-
Only one bow here. Had it since 1993, An Assenheimer recurve 65# @ 28". I've been considering getting another bow. I've always wanted a longbow and have been weighing my options. As someone else stated, it's a good idea to have a backup. I've been lucky so far I guess. My other option was to simply buy an extra set of limbs for my Assenheimer but that's not as appealing as a new longbow. ;)
-
Nothing wrong with being a one-bow guy until that one bow "gives up the ghost"(as we and they all eventually will) two weeks before the season opener. Nothing compares to that horror. Now I'm a least a two-bow guy or occasionally a one-bow guy with a set of back-up limbs!
-
I got 2 bows goto bow is my Chek-mate H2 62" 62#@29. Next is a longbow I got in trade. Hollenbeck 66" 67#@29", but I just play around with it.
-
One bow for me...Mike Baker longbow, best bow I have ever shot, and I have shot my share of the best! BLM
-
I have 2 Bows, My Howard Hill "Just Passable" and my Saxon longbow that was my first Longbow That Dano refinished for me....
99% of the time I use the HH it's 52# @ 28" and is 68" long, I hunt with it stump with it and shoot 3D shoots with it....
I use Easton Legacys cut to 29" BOP with 125 grn. heads....
Just Passable has never let me down, I have let her down a couple of times....
-
I have one coumpound and one longbow and the coumpound has much dust on it . My longbow is a Great Northern I love it, the only way for me to be proficiant and comfortable is with one weapon
-
I know I have to have a back up to lol. My monarch is a bow that mostly stays on the wall. What ever I go with will be a T/D with 2 set of limbs
-
Just one with a back-up , my go to is a Mantis 3 pc. TD longbow 60" 60 lb. @28" "Ol UGLY" and I do mean ugly , but man does it shoot good.
-
I have many bows and love shooting every bow I see, come october I only shoot with my Howard Hill Until the seasons over. and only shoot my hunting arrows. MIKE
-
I only shoot one myself, but that's only because I don't own another one. I've got a Sarrel's BobcattII 60" 47lbs @ 28". My next one will be a Sarrel's also, my wife told me I could get the new one! Even then, I'll only shoot one exclusively. I shoot year round with the archery club ( www.archersforchrisparis.com (http://www.archersforchrisparis.com) ), and I like the idea of only using one bow and one set of arrows because it really gets you prepared for the hunting season.
-
One Bow?...Well Kinda...I'm lucky enough to own two 60" Black Widow TFVs...One 48# @ 26" the other 51 @ 26"...Do just about everything with the 51# bow...3D, stump shoot, big game, small game, the works!...Guess you could call the 48# bow my spare...What's cool is they both can shoot the same arrow well!... :) ...
I know there must be lots of guys who own and shoot alot of bows...That's Cool Too...But me?...I'd rather be really good with one bow and own a hundred plus arrows!... ;) ...Don't want to run out of ammo!!!... :jumper: ...

Only one for me. It's a BW MAII that was 58# @ 28 when I bought it new in 1990. In February 2005 the Widow makers shaved off 5# and refinished it. I love that bow.
-
I've got 5 hanging on the wall only one was bought new by me and 2 are osage self bows I have made.
-
I wish it was a beautiful longbow. But for the last 15 or so years it's been Big Ugly my old Assenhiemer. Big deer are just to hard to come by to trust to anything but him. With that bow it's as easy as pointin it at em and wishin em dead!
-
Myself, I only have one, a Bear's Paw longbow, but next week I am sending in the deposit on a new set of limbs. Going to go from a 58" longbow to a 62", and going to increase my draw weight by a few pounds. These will be the limbs that I will shoot.

My go to bow is over fifty, that's fifty years, so I have been searching for a replacement for over ten years; haven't found it yet. But, it sure is fun looking. One of these days I will make the perfect selfbow, and then spend the rest of my life trying to replicate it. Besides, I don’t want the twenty something bows in the bow room to get jealous, so I make sure to take two off the shelf to fill doe tags each year.

Guys who know me would laugh at this, but I am getting there. I used to swicth back forth a lot. The last year though I shoot my KS's and thats it. I consider them one bow as they are exactly the same, except for the #age.(48#s and 63#s)I admit I have an LB that I just got, but I will only use it for fun or bunny huntin'. When it comes to my serious stuff, tha my Kwyk Styks are it. Shawn

I am leaning towards 2--- a K M archery longbow--actually have 2 and one more coming in--BUT-- all the same except for the weights----And I just picked up a stock 3 pc recurve from RER bows---used to be rivers edge recurves---I am liking that bow---SOOO-- I guess I cannot claim to be a 1 bow guy---but a lot closer than I used to be....
To me, Curves and longbows have their places...

Two PL's....a 53# PLII and a 58# PLIII. I may send the 58#er in for a weight reduction down to 55#. Mike
-
I just have one on hand for myself. 56" 50# @ 25" double carbon Centaur with prarie rattler snake skins!
-
Im starting to lean towards the widows with a extra set of limb. I think ones going to be in my near future if I can find one that is
-
I go through bows like a rock star gos through woman,Im down to 3 now but only shoot one,A Pronghorn 3 peice 59#@28 That I really like,The other two are a Kabekona 56'55#@28 [that Id like to trade for a recurve]and a Big river 60'70#@28 that I like alot but get tired fast shooting it because of the poundage
-
for the last year i have only been shooting my Mark Baker selfbow. i find dramatic improvement with my shooting when i stick to one bow only thing is i have a couple beautifull bows that really should be shot!
-
Do twins count as one? I shoot twin Mahaska recurves.
-
Hey Guys,
I have a Bear Kodiak Magnum, 50# @ 28" that I shot from 1972 until last year. I managed to gouge across the glass on the back of the bow about eight inches from the limb tip......now retired. As a replacement I bought a Tomahawk, 50# @ 28"....given a little care, this may well be the last bow I buy.

I have a collection of old Bear recurves that I shoot on occassion
-
Until this August I did not think it was possible for me to become a one bow person. I sold all of my recurves and shoot Leon Stewart's three piece Slammer. It is the most accurate forgiving bow I have owned.
-
I've been shooting my Wapiti recurve for going on 18 years now. I hve 2 sets of limbs ,and I've owned other bows but when it comes down to heading into the woods ,its my go to bow --ALWAYS
1Longbow
-
To many bows to list one by one; 23 hanging on the wall; I love archery and my bows and love helping others in getting started in archery; it seems when I give one away, 2 more takes its place; I hunt with Bear recurves; no, I am not a one bow kind of guy; :scared: :help:
-
Getting there, just started shooting the same bow for the past few months, while waiting on a new bow. Once i tgets here that's all I will be shooting.
-
Heck I can't even shoot one kind of bow.No way to only shoot just one. :)
-
AkDan;
Had a TS III and liked it alot. The brace height Jim recommended was 7”+ to the throat of the grip. I set mine between 6½ and 7”. Then set the beaver ball silencers 1/4 of the way down from the string groove. It was very sensitive to brace height and silencer location, but once there was whisper quiet.

I shot two bows. Thunderstick MOAB and Big River recurve. It does take about a dozen arrows for transition between the two, both then both hit were I'm looking after the switch. The MOAB is my main bow, but for big hogs I like the Big River and heavy 730+ grain tapered Ash arrows.
