Title: Fancied up my Boa quiver
Post by: Prairie Drifter on July 02, 2011, 10:12:00 PM
I had a 6 arrow Boa that had the black plastic hood. The hood was very tall,I didn't need that much hieght for the broadheads I was using. Also, I wanted a 5 arrow. So I shortened the hood, and fitted a piece of deer leather I had here. On the arrow holder,I removed one rubber holder, centered the rest, and cut the holding strip w/ my dremel tool.I also added a piece of leather on the strap bracket.

Now the quiver "fits" better on my 53.5" B&W ebony Maddog Longbow.Don't look quite so "bulky" to my eyes.

Very nice job!  I agree with you that the "cut down" version you made looks a lot less bulky.  Clever idea!

Looks good,

Do you by chance have a picture of the inside of the hood? Curious to see how you attached it on the inside after you bent it over the edge.

James, Do you mean the leather? I rolled about 1/8" inside and hot glued it. Can't see it at all once the foam was put back in.

yes, That was exactly what I was asking about. In the past, I have drilled holes and overlapped/sewed it with sinew, so that I had stitching that looked like what you have ont he top of the hood.  Just curious to what your method was

Thanks,
James

Thanks guys. I think the leather may be a litte light colored, but I hope it darkens w/ age.

Very nice customizing job! You could rub a little oil into that leather to darken it up and also protect it from the elements. I've used regular old Canola oil on leather to good effect. If you kept some scrap pieces you could experiment to get the look you want.

Sweet combo with that fine B/W Ebony bow.
