Wire brim hat, or a military boonie hat.

I like a green wool hat similar to what Chuck Adams wears, no brim and it gets cold here in Vermont.

Either a beanie or a bandana because I can't wear anything with a brim because the brim hits my string when I draw and distracts me.

About anything but a baseball style cap.  I have a bucket, a boonie (so-so on that one), and a Fred Bear/Fred Asbell style one (my favorite).  I bought a Wensel type one at Compton and seem to like it alright.

Recent restore of my Stetson Open Road. Dried to get some shape back into the beaver, added the homemade hatband w/bone & feathers, & installed moose antlers (turtle shell) on the front which also adds support. 2 decades plus partial here.

Early season i like to wear bandanas rambo style, when it starts getting nippy ill slip on a to'boggin. With apropriate face paint as well   :D  i cant stand to have a bill touching the string.

Camo baseball cap from Cabela's corporate outfitter department. I designed a logo and Cabela's does free set-up and embroidery. Total cost <$8 each.  Good gifts for my young kids and my hunting buddies, more meaningful than buying something off a rack.

You are looking at mine in my new Avatar (in colder days I wear a knit "watch cap" under that). It's a 3D leaf type crushable with netting inside the 3d Leaf cutouts.
Here's the uncropped pic:

Last season I wore a Sitka Gear beanie. It was very comfortable and didn't interfere with my recurve's bowstring.

A couple of month's ago I received a short-brimmed hat from Big Jim that had a wire brim-edge. It is fantastic as you can customize the brim to clear the string as well.

Unfortunately, I've misplaced the hat.  I'll call out a search party (here in the house) and find that booger before the first of September!

I got one the other day from Stickbowman,a sponsor here.I believe it is the BC-45,a short brimmed camo hat that has wire in the brim so you can shape it anyway you like.Velcro adjustible strap in the back for size.I think it may be close to a perfect archers cap.I turned up the brim to show what the wire can do.I like that feature and the Stickbowman logo.

To Snuffer:  "the works for me" guy..I think it's about time to retire that old hat, it's helped kill enough deer don't ya think? Think it's time to pass it on to someone who needs it!

Just a short brimmed boonie in warm weather and a heavy insulated fleece cap in cool weather.  I often wear one and keep the other in my cargo pocket to swap out as the temp changes through the day.

I just picked up two new hunting hats at Comptons this year. I got 'em at "The Brothers of the Bow" booth. Gene "hand-picked" 'em for me, with just the right amount of mojo for a "hillbilly". That Gene is a pretty good fella, he didn't even charge me any extra for the mojo.

There was a guy on one of the hunting shows today hunting elk..(killed a bull) with recurve. He had a hat on that I really liked. Looked kinda like a safari hat with a short brim. Looked short enough that I would be able to draw without it getting in way of string.

Think his name may have been DeLong. Sure would like to know where to find a hat like that.

I sent my dad's old Stetson to a hatter in Texas and had it restored.  So now part of him will be with me on my hunts.  He also had another dark Resistol that I have reshaped - and should also work well this year.  Both brims are short enough and soft enough that they don't interfere with the string when shooting.

By-the-way, that's cacciatore's turkey - not mine - they outsmarted me this year.

Depends.  Wear a wool skull cap if it's cold.  Cover that with a Fratzke bucket hat if it's really cold. In the elk woods in September, usually a cotton boonie.

I got a bucket hat that I swear I'm going to throw away every year cause it's so faded. Every year it's the first hat I grab. If it's real cold I'll switch to a beanie.
