planted some sawtooth oaks on our place over 10 yrs ago and they are loaded with acorn "buds" but never a fully matured acorn that drops to the ground. its almost like it wants to produce them but something (maybe a squirrel or rodent) nips them at the bud. anybody else have this prob or heard of it?? they are on the edge of one of our food plots but we do not disk around them thanks
i.e. the buds are gone when the time comes for them to drop.. almost like they disappear
How close are they to each other? They must be close enought to pollinate each other. At least 30' or so.
beetle, the trees are probably 10-12 yds apart or so.. estimating
Go to your county ag. dept. and get a soil sample box. Send the soil sample off and get tested. The trees might need some nutrients added to the soil. Here in NC they used to do the test for free.
