I shot this buck back in '07. This is the deer in my avatar pic. I had the antlers out in the shop collecting dust and cobwebs for a few years. I had to get this beautiful buck mounted. Barry Smith out of Colorado did a very fine job on him. This is the only deer I have had mounted before. I would rather use that taxidermy money on a hunt, but this deer was worth it.
VERY NICE Shedrock!

Heck of a deer and good lookin mount!
I don't know why it is rotated?

You're right. That buck is more than worth it! A very nice mount.
You just keep rotating it, that buck looks great from every angle! CONGRATULATIONS! :notworthy:
Beauty man. Why four years to get it?
The antlers were in my shop for 4 years before I decided to spend the $.
I now have a bear at Barry's getting rugged out that I shot back in '98.
I hope this taxidermy stuff isn't as addicting as buying bows!
That's a great Buck.!!
There is just something about a big Mulie, makes me think about high alpine meadows.

I had to do a double take as well. The first time I saw him was early morning, just at sunrise. He was headed up a steep ridge. I did think he was a raghorn bull elk, as there is a small herd of elk that stay on the same ridge.
That is one heck of a buck, congratulations! Your taxidermist did a great job, money well spent.

Here is a side view of him, and you can see how he did look like an elk at a distance in low light.
I had his head in the freezer, wanting to save the velvet, yes, a big chest freezer. Anyway, a couple buds from Iowa and Nebraska shot their antelope, and needed to get them froze. So, I lost the velvet, and the fake stuff would have cost me $3 per inch, and there is over 200 inches there. He looks just fine hard horned.
Unbelievable! Great looking mount!
That is one awesome buck Tracy (Buck of a lifetime). He was the king of the mountain. Love all the kickers. Very well done Congrats
I agree - this one was worth it! Dandy buck and now you will re live that hunt every time you walk into that room.
WOW. I'd say he's worth the $$ for a mount. Nice deer!!

Beautiful buck Tracy, and an excellent mount. Money well spent!
Oh, by the way, it is almost as addicting as the bows... ;)
I clicked on this link hoping it wasn't just another whitetail from someone's farm.
I am sure glad I did, because THAT IS A FANTASTIC MULE DEER!
Congrats one nice mulie.
Looks great to me. Congratulations, a fine mount and an extraordinary animal!

WOW! What A Beauty! Congrats Tracy!! Thanks for sharing with us...
That is great looking mount. I don't think there is a animal going that is better looking than a big muley buck.
Great deer and mount!!
I'm like you Tracy, Guys ask me all the time why I don't have my deer mounted and I always tell them I could go out west for deer, elk or antelope for the same price. Maybe someday I will get some done ;)
Congrats!!
Tracy
I don't blame you. That is a super mulie and excellent taxidermy work.
Dang fine... I think velvet mounts look ragged after some years anyway. Well done. Question. Did you have the cape or did they retro fit it?
PS Speaking of freezer room, I'm eating an elk steak as we speak. Season is around the corner!!!!
Montanawidower, I saved the cape from a nice, mature buck that I shot in Sept '09.
We had elk last evening, good stuff!
Money well spent. You will enjoy it for years!!!

It is just as addictive as bows!
When I had my first whitetail mounted I said that was the only one I would do because I just had to have a head on the wall and the 145" 12pt. was the biggest I ever killed. Then when the 156" 10pt. came along I just HAD to get it mounted cause it was bigger than the other one.
Now I just do skull mounts myself for free, unless it's a new state record, then I won't have to pay to have that one mounted cause the MDC will do it for me if I let them display it for awhile.
That's an Awesome Mulie Shedrock!
 :clapper:
That's a buck of a lifetime and you'll find yourself looking at it every single day. I look at mine at least once a day if even just a glance and it brings back the fond memories of the day.
