Title: Wes Wallace Feature
Post by: Jason Hairston on June 29, 2011, 12:16:00 PM
We just went live with a Feature Interview with Wes Wallace in The Hunt at kuiu.com.  It is a great piece written and shot by Daniel Wakefield Paisley a professional photo journalist from Portland.

I believe you will really enjoy his writting and photography of Wes and his shop.

Good stuff. Always like to read about the Oregon bow scene. Wes is a fine man and a skilled bowyer no doubt about it.

Well deserved write-up for a great bowyer & person.

Have a recurve & 2 longbows of his - the best shooting bows I've ever had.....can't wait for the other 2 bows on order to be done  :archer2:

What a great article. Over the years I've met a good number of great bowyers. Had I not ran accross Wes before some of these others I may never have known about his bows, maybe yes or no. What I can say is that I own 3 recurves and 3 longbows, all Wes Wallace bows. As much as I like to try others, I will never give up my Wallace bows. He has custom crafted works of art that are awesome weapons. He has always given me more than I ever asked in every way. Very deserving of any acknowledgment as a great bowyer. I chose him because he is also a man of integrity, not seeking anything but more bows to make for people who will give them a good home. Humble , honest, a great guy. Kinda funny cuz no one knows I have made my mind up to go with KUIU for my clothing needs for the future and then I see this post offering this article about my favorite bowyer. Thank you!!

Jason,

That was some nice stickbow exposure and a well-done piece.

Saw where you shoot traditional in your thread on the guide gloves (I just bought a pair, was searching for a sizing chart, and saw where u said it was possible to shoot them with a tab).  We will see if the gloves work well with a tab!

Are you shooting a Wallace? Just curious.   :p

In the Kuiu article at the end there is mention of a short riser that uses the limbs from the original Mentor riser. I have one, made my 60" into a 56" recurve. It is awesome, has the feel of the 60" just shorter. It did reduce the the length of pull a bit before it starts to stack but at my draw length it is perfect, as it seems to feel almost like a lock right at my anchor. It is a rocket, fires an arrow like crazy fast, still stable and confidence inspiring. This is a do everything bow. I can't own just one, but if I had to, this one would be it. The workmanship and beauty is beyond compare. I've owned a couple OR recurves but not a WW.  The article was a fun, interesting read. I'd love to read one like that every day on a different bowyer.
