Picked up last years longbow bull from the taxidermist today, he sure did a great job! He is a very respectable bull but not a monster scored right under 300, but nonetheless he is the only one I ever felt was worth a shoulder mount out of a dozen or more which I have killed. Thought I'd share with you guys. Thanks.....Shawn (//%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z448/scedvm/041.jpg)[/IMG] (//%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z448/scedvm/045.jpg)[/IMG]

Would you mind sharing some details, like shot distance, bow weight and draw length, broadhead, how shot location, how far it traveled.
Great bull.
I second toby's comments - I'd love to hear the story on that one. Maybe I missed it last fall - I know I missed lots of elk stories because I was out trying to make up one of my own.
I love the dark chocolate antlers and ivory tips - that is the bull on my own dreams! Somday..... Someday.....

Thats a great lookin Bull, good memories there i bet.
Very nice bull. I like the mount.
Thanks for looking guys! Toby, Whip and those that asked, I didn't put a story on here last fall because I didn't really know how to attach photos on here which I still don't very well obviously.
I am mostly a recurve guy but I killed this bull with a Bamabows Hunter straight limbed longbow that was 57-58# at my 31" draw. I was shooting GT5575 with a 165gr Simmons Landshark with the small bleeder blade. My arrows came in at right around 500gr maybe a little more which was a little lighter than I had wanted but I had tuned this bow for a mule deer hunt and by the time I decided I wanted to take it on my elk hunt I didn't think I had time to relearn to shoot it with a stiffer, heavier arrow so I went with what was ready and it did the job just fine.
For anyone interested I did send photos and a story of the hunt to Nate last year which he posted on his website, Bamabows.com on the trophy page. Thanks again for looking....Shawn
Very nice!
Look how colored up that Bull got those antlers !!! Great looing mount :)
That looks outstanding. :notworthy: Congrats on your Trophy.
Owlbait, getting him in the door was a little tricky for sure! We have a little great room/living room with 16' cielings so once inside not too bad to hang him up.
Looks great!
I like it! I want one! :clapper:
Congrats on a great job Shawn.
Wow, nice bull.
Nice!!!

Nice!
I'd still be smiling...wow what a beautiful animal! That and my wife would still be sick of me telling my friends and family about it!
I'd like to wrap a tag around one like that someday.
Josh
That's a beautiful bull and mount for sure! I'd be dang proud to hang that on my wall. Hmmm...come to think of it, you might want to keep your doors locked. ;)

Very nice bull... Hope I get a chance on one like that this fall...
What state was it taken in? Your Home state of NM?
JSMOFFITT03, yes it was in NM in the Gila National Forest.
Gorgeous looking mount and elk. I hope to one day be able to hunt these beautiful animals.
WOW! Gorgeous!
Very nice!
Really cool Shawn. Like to hear the story & your setup. Elk tops my list.
Great looking mount and a beautiful bull.
:bigsmyl: :campfire:
Very nice mount. You obviously have a much better taxidermist than I had if you got it back that quick. Mine took 3 years and a hell of a lot of aggravation.
Ermont, I know two guys in the Belen area that do real nice work and always get you out by the following spring or early summer. Should the need arise shout at me and I can get you to them.
Will do. The guy I used was in Las Vegas NM. Never again.
Great looking. Congrats on the hunt and the mount
What a beauty!! Love the ivory tips!
