Title: Feeling a bit "lost".
Post by: ishiwannabe on June 26, 2011, 10:22:00 AM
An injury is preventing me from shooting. For a while now, and there is no shooting time in the forseeable future.
Not used to this at all. Typically, on any given day, I could pick up my bow and shoot until things felt better or my mood improved.
So, I have a request. Shoot one (or a few) for me. Stumping, 3D, bowfishing, hunting....I dont mind which. Just snap a pic and post it for me. I need some vicarious motivation. I need to see arrows downrange.
Thanks.  :D

Hope you get better soon. I'll fling some for you today.

Have you ever considered getting an opposite hand lightweight bow to shoot in the event something like this happens?

When my LH fingers get so sore from marathon shooting I switch to my daughter's RH #30 bow and shoot at close range. I am getting to a point I can shoot a fair group at ten yards.

I have a severely herniated disc between C6 and C7 in my neck. My right arm is numb and painful, and the mere act of turning my head can cause major issues. Im doing vigorous physical therapy to attempt to avoid a spinal fusion at the ripe old age of 35.   :D
I wish I could switch to a LH bow and get my fix. I even asked the surgeon, and it was meant with a very adamant "No".
Thanks guys, I appreciate it immensely.

Jamie,

Sorry about your bad luck!  Talk about kicking a guy when he's down!

I'll get a pick or two when I can, until then, like Shawn said, let me know if there is anything you need or I can do!

Charlie

I hope things heal well for you. I had a very similar injury a few months ago. My disc wasn't herniated, but it was on the verge.  I couldn't pull hardly any weight. My right shoulder was useless and my right hand was numb. My chiropractor was able to sort it out for me, fortunately.  It did take a few weeks, though.

If I get a chance to go out stumping, I'll get a few pics for you.

Seems like something of mine is ALWAYS hurting.     Lately (for a couple-few years) it's been heel spur agony, gradually fading to intolerant arches and tick bites...fairly mild stuff, comparatively speaking. But there were some years of back pain that had me screaming, until that pain got bored and moved to more fertile ground.

I got the tick bites out on the 3D range at my club. I THINK they're tick bites... maybe I put on a shirt full of bedbugs.
But I found these, so I had to go back with a bag. Maybe you could do a little mushroom scouting, eh?

Sorry to hear this. Listen to the Doc, and I'm hoping for a quick and full recovery.

You might want to start looking for a light weight bow for when you can start building back up to shooting again.

Excellent pics. Killy, I am not familiar with those mushrooms. Enlighten me?  :)
I appreciate all the words of encouragement.  My physical therapist is an avid bowhunter, so he knows the deal. He shoots wheels....so far.  :D

Jamie,

Turtle season opens next week.

Hopefully I will get lucky. I have been seeing at least one every trip I could have  had a shot at.

Great pics guys. Each one brings a smile. Thank you.
I attempted to pull a light weight bow the other day...mixed results. Awesoe to do, but cause some issues. Think I will stick to vicariously shooting through you all for now.
