82# longbow drawn to 31" pushing a 928gn arrows at 174 fps......
I'm just not confident......
In finding wood arrows that spine. >>>>--------?
Should be good for:
Frogs, rabbits, opossums, coons, deer, elk, caribou, moose, lions, tigers and bears, grizzly, eland, buffs and heffalumps.
What specifically is rattling your confidence?
I would think you should be confident provided you stay positioned behind the arrow.
Squirrels?
24% FOC, 5" fletches, skinny D10 string, 300gn 4 blade razor-sharp head.....
Can I get the penetration I'll need????
the arrow will pass thru an elephant ?
have skin on your fingertips after release ?
Penatration should be no problem unless you're shooting cars , even then the compacts shouldn't put up too big a fight . What are you going to be shooting at ?
I sense some sarcasim. I'd be more worried in my performance than the bows at that point.

If you do much stump shooting you should get a good workout pulling your arrows.
Not if you find you need 25% EFOC.
Question is ... Can You Pull It ??????
The poundage of your bow should have nothing to do with your confidence. What are you setting up for?
I don't know man....you are cutting it awfully close...
Better use a narrow 3 to 1 ratio broadhead :biglaugh:
LOL.....yep close!!!!!!!!!!!!!>)
Yes, this is the correct poundage/draw length/arrow/broadhead configuration for squirrels in that you do not have to walk around the tree in order to shoot them.

i got to meet rob for the first time last saturday at the comptons shoot

Penetration don't matter if your shooting is ugly or your screamin' cuz you strained your groin pulling that bad boy back! :archer2:
Yup you should be good just limit your shots to 110 yards!!!
That thing come with a hand crank? :goldtooth:

I finally had a chance to meet Rob at Compton's and he just seemed to have a "softer" side than portrayed here :bigsmyl:
shoot.......maybe you can put a boxing glove on the end of those telephone pole shafts and knock em out then measure them to decide if they are "keepers" or not?
Whack and release bowhunting!
......and Im not saying a WORD about feeling like a weenie now-a-days.
My 80 lb Wasp and 76lb Fred Anderson are long gone.
Bet that combo of yours would be fun to take in a check station here in Indiana with a deer you took.......just to see their faces!! HEHEHE
Go get em, Pardner!!
God Bless
Slow
PS......Ive got a few 2440 shafts here, if you can find inserts for them should you wish to take your arrow weight up to something "heavy" :goldtooth:
Just be sure to spray a little silicone on the arrows.
I'm thinkin' I may need to switch to a narrow 2-blade.....
You are much a man Bro!
Just to be fair, you ought to give a Tarzan yell before turning an arrow loose :notworthy:

Only if you're goin Armor Piercing for them fierce Pond Frogs.
Well than, go get em !! No wonder I get charged up over these is 40# enough post, I've found low to mid 70#'s fine for me, but must uv gotten caught up in the 55#'s plenty, Heck, I think I may be gettin stronger as I get older, or maybe it's all the shootin I do, like working out I guess, muscle's get stale if ya dont use em, Im always undecided on wt# when I order a Bow, always go for mid to high 50#'s at my draw to be "safe" and realize Im somewhat underbowed afterwards, Have fun with her Rob, Im sure you'll be fine ...

That I can get my two does and one buck with that one arrow.
Your almost there for deer....but... a 2.5" special cut fletch with the little pin stripey thing just in front of it should get you there buddy.
Anything bigger...forget it!!! :clapper:
Not if you don't put it in the right spot.

TURBULATOR!!!
Should I put one on?
Your set-up is a little light at 11.3 gpp.
I too, would lack confidence until exceeding 12 gpp.
I think you need to step up 3 more lbs and keep your shots to 17.5 yds
I read your post, and my shoulder popped out of it's socket just thinking about it!
Do you duct tape a boxing glove on and use it for a blunt?

:campfire:
I'd use the same set-up if I could just figure out how to properly hold the bow with my feet as I pull with both hands? If it works for ya...shoot it!
Last time I tried shooting a bow that heavey my buddy said he didn't see one bit of play in my flight as he pulled me out of the target. :saywhat:
I think you will be fine on thin skin small game......LOL
im with stickflinger i think the arrow would stay there and the bow lawn dart me threw thew the calilac your stalkin
I'd bet your arrows will quit bouncing back out of the target now. :readit:
GURU pulls one out from the PAST!
I agree with Owlbait I found Rob to be a bit easygoing at the compton shoot. I don't doubt he can pull a bus bakwards tho. I did forget to ask him why he is called Rob-TATTOO tho, well, maybe next year.If he comes back. :goldtooth:
It's all about shot placement and keepin it close. Make sure you have a sharp broadhead. :knothead:
Make sure you use a single bevel 2 blade and put it right in the boiler room...
Remember that a triceratops has a thick shield right over the vitals and only take broadside shots at under 75 yards :p
I don't know what you could be thinking, going into the woods with a setup that light. You MIGHT be OK on squirrels or field mice, but for heaven's sake don't go after anything that might fight back. And even them dang squirrels have a healthy set of teeth, bent on mayhem if angered.
You won't have to worry about me dry-firing it.
I went downstairs to my bow rack and put the Winnie-the-Pooh stickers back on my punie curves. (But I do enjoy wiping dirt and lung blood off my broadheads in the same swipe.)
Do you shoot left hand grain or right hand grain arrows? Shooting left hand grain arrows with right hand feathers (or vise versa) could be bad. Rob, can't you foot the arrows or do something to get the weight up to 1000 grains?
I've given this a lot more thought....
And I wouldn't shoot anything with that set up bigger than the TX Turd Roller.

Rob,
How did that D10 strech on you? On my 82# er the D10 stretched almost 3/4" over two days. Seemed to have stopped now but I'm not happy with number of twists in string. Going to have some 8125 strings made up - I had stretching problems on my 75#er until I switched to 8125 then very little stretch. D10 seems fine on light bows.
Only with a single bevel with matching the feathers with a 3 to 1 ratio would I attempt to shoot a deer with it.
ohhh i get it, you going on a t-rex hunt right :p
Just another macho thread trying to impress the rest of us. Of course your set up is enough!!!-For anything!!
I think someone needs a hug. :biglaugh:

I don't do impressions.
