The mailman walked into the business today with this loooooong heavy tube. It came all the way from Montana. Glad it made it here in one piece. Of course I put my work aside and went to the back of the store. Cutting the wrapping off one end I was able to look inside. First time I ever saw 2 of these in one tube! Kind of like "double you pleasure, double your fun with..." no not Juicy Fruit gum....
I'll have to see if I can take some pictures of what was inside of that tube. One was for a buddy and one for me. Looking at his I wish I was lefthanded...almost.
Well sorry to keep ya hangin'. But I don't have a way to post a picture right now.
Did I say how beautiful the lines are in this thing? Yep, real beautiful. Quite the deal actually. Never had one like this. Extraordinary some might say. Not unusual, just special...yeah, that's it, special!
But sadly no way to post a picture.
Not right yet.
I will though.
Soon.
Well pretty soon.
After awhile.
Later on.
;)
I'm guessing a Whip from Dan Toelke???
 :campfire: :campfire:
HHhhhmmmmmmm....................I wonder what it could be?? What on earth fits in a long tubular shipping container?
:dunno: :dunno:    ;)
I can't wait to see what this could be........
If you got two sticks of Juicy Fruit you got ripped. To double your pleasure and fun it should have been two sticks of Double Mint gum in that tube ;)
And if you weren't aware of this yet snag:

hahaha....you're right Mike! Been so long since I've heard that jingle...
Yep, it is kind of worthless without pics. Sure do wish I had some to post on here. But isn't the waiting kind of fun? Like the anticipation of seeing a buck after hearing the rustle of leaves...well maybe not exactly like that.

Time's up, Snagglepuss.
Killdeer :nono:
The gang's all here, but your pics ain't. We're waiting :campfire:
I bet they were REALLYy bright yellow and there are going to be LOTS of shavings around the Snag playroom...
Come on Snag, you can't do this to us!
Fishing for compliments really works better with pics!
I am not curious, really not, but.....
PLEASE SHOW US THE BOW!!!

Snag, you were much more efficent in the past!
You'd think that a bunch of hunters used to waiting out many an animal would be able to be more patient. But, oh no, everyone's in a hurry all of a sudden. Give him a break folks. He'll get 'er done.
OK, David, times up....
You guys are way off. It's a pair of new R.L. Winston fly rods.
:dunno:
If it's not a couple of beauties from HH Archery or Nate Steen in Idaho I'd be disappointed.
I think it's two new fishing poles (a left and a right hand model)?
Tough crowd. Because it's for Snag, I am thinking they must be a couple of Blacktails that were sent to the wrong address in MT.
They can't be bows, he just got a new Blacktail. Golf clubs mabey :)
These threads which build anticipation make it easier to endure the wait for the end of the gestation period of my own bows.
SHOW US THE BOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God bless,Mudd
The natives are getting restless....
I guess I better bring mine back in so you can get a pic of them together.... :bigsmyl:
Ok, finally strung it up this morning to shoot it and take pictures. Gator1 was on point! Oregon Okie and I had a couple of 64" Whips made up for us by Dan. Except Dan made a mistake on Okie's...the shelf is on the wrong side.......... :goldtooth: His limb veneers and the bocote with the....well I'll let him tell ya. Here's mine.

I really like the grip over all other longbows and a lot of recurves I have shot. There is a flat area for the meaty part of your lower thumb to rest on. It is a good reference and contact point for a consistantly repeatable grip. Well done Dan!
...and no the Blacktails still hold the top rung on the rack! ;0)
:clapper: Very, very nice Snag!!
That's a beauty Snag, how is the shelf cut? Let us know how it shoots.
you always think the pics will do it justice but mine never do. Still looks pretty good though.
Texas Ebony in the riser. Frog's hair (???) Myrtle in the veneers.
My first ever bow built for me (except the one I built for me)

:goldtooth:
These bows are brothers......cool!
Bjorn, this bow loved the 60#-65# Surewoods I shot through it this morning...so much that I was late for work! But that's ok, I know the boss pretty well....haha The shelf is cut to center.
This bow is so smooth. I actually busted a nock. Then the arrow hung vertical on the target. So I thought "oh well, I won't hit the arrow..." next arrow splits the shaft!
Quite a bow!
Very nice Okie! Love those limb veneers. Mine feels heavier than 52#. I'll check it tonight. Sure throws an arrow!
So Russ, you going to take a dremel tool to the grip area? :scared:
ha ha... you that's why I got it.
I am trying to figure out how to make my other bow grip like this one though...
The first time I shot a whip I literally "WHOOOPED" and now I finally have one...
Snag,
Were you a victim of going to Western States?
Dan had some nice stuff there. How in the world are you going to explain this deviation to Norm Johnson?

Gotta agree with you there Okie man. I was thinking it may be a HHA bow. But I think Craig mails in boxes. Some much for wishing :(
Now that I see them the anticipation was worth the wait. There are just some amazing artisans out there building custom bows these days. Gotta say though that Oregon Okie's bow steals this show for me. Beautiful myrtle. That's the second bow today killer figuring in the myrtle. And Texas Ebony is just bad-a**! (http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii31/mikebiz/headbang.gif) Snag's is beautiful as well. And since we hammered him so hard I'll give him and OO a big
Hey Bob, you guessed it. Well actually it was Okie's fault. He pulled me over to Dan's booth and put a Whip in my hand. That's all it took, I was done. But of course I had to shoot it too. Sealed the deal. There I was with a gorgeous new Blacktail of my dreams....and I handed to Dan to hold for me! while I shot a Whip....it was just crazy!
I agree Mike the limb veneers in Okie's bow are it! Mine are the tiger myrtle that have good dark grain which is good...just not the figured stuff that the kid got. It's his first he should be spoiled right out of the gate though. haha
You both have quite attractive bows.
By not having personally shot one may have saved me from myself.
Congrats!!!!!!
Snag,
I walked away but confirmed I needed the "butt in the saddle grip" if I should order later. It's probably a good thing I didn't shoot one. But I did shoot Allen Boices new model the Edge and that may have been a mistake.
Nice bows:)
Congrats!
WSTR had many pitfalls for bow lovers.
congratulations on a couple of fine bows there....
I have to stay out of the classifieds i got bows on my mind 24/7
Again you gents enjoy those toelkes, never owned one "yet", however the craftmanship of the toelkes I've seen are top shelf...

Ok I don't feel so bad that Dan got my last piece of fiddleback myrtlewood. Nice stuff HUH? She is a beauty!!!
Now, now, Dave, if you shot left-handed you would have been "enlightened" regarding Tolke's a few years back at Rob's shooting clinic. ;)
I am eating crow for the comment about being disappointed if they weren't HH bows in the mail. Those are some beauties.
Gorgeous woods! I bought a used Whip via the classifieds 3 weeks ago....finest longbow I've ever owned. Enjoy!
Congrats to you both! Sound and look like real keepers!
Am "pickled tink" as my step dad used to say that you two have those to enjoy and we expect "hero photos" come fall.
God Bless
Steve
Beautiful Bows, Both. We don't have such shows to attend here in the East of Canada and I'm not sure if that's good or bad!
Very nice!
Walt, somehow "enlightened" and lefthanded just don't go together...haha
Tom, come on out next year and shoot one! :0)
