"The Copperhead Bow"
She was just an ugly 'ole stick, don't you know
Picked her up in the Classifieds some years ago
Deal went smooth, then she was in my hand
She shot as well as any bow that would cost a grand
Day in and day out, I couldn't put her down
The boys at the club snickered when I brought her too town
But, they didn't laugh when the arrows hit home
Some stepped up to ask, "Where did she come from?"
Well we roamed the woods and the open field
Plenty of game she began to yield
And the seasons flew by and we grew old
Yet there were many a story left to be told
No longer can I pull and bend her limbs
She hangs over the hearth, dust covering her skin
Death is my friend, it's time to let her go
So, I bid farewell to the Copperhead bow.......TW
:clapper: Nicely done. Good rhythm and rhyme. Fairly sublime. :dunno:
