Title: Gold Tip Inserts?
Post by: elbow on June 18, 2011, 09:02:00 PM
How much does a standard Golt Tip Insert for a 5575 weigh? I have been shooting a standard insert with a 50 grain weigth screwed to it and am going to just a 50 grains brass insert, will my arrows flight be effected by the weight change

Seems like they are only 10 grains or so, your arrow flight shouldn't change.

They weigh 11-13 grains depending on which style you have. It is possible that arrow flight might be effected. Try them and if needed you can get screw in weights for the brass inserts.

The standard insert for the GT Traditional 5575 weighs 11.4 grains. I don't think your arrow flight will be adversely effected.

I have 2 different batches of Gold Tip inserts. They weigh a consistent 14.9 grains. If I thought my arrows had perfect bare shaft and broadhead flight,I personally would compensate for that 15 grains.

For what it is worth- You can always take a heavier brass insert and file/grind the back end to get the actual wt. you want.  I do it all the time- no big deal. By the way too- one of the best investments- and not that much- is an electronic scale.  They are about $25 and worth every penny.
