Hey, I know a lot of you have some biblical saying on your bows so maybe you could help me out?
I've been looking from something to put on a new bow that I'm getting, something to remind me never to forget Jesus, short and sweet would probably be the best fit, doesn't have to be a bible verse just a reminder to our savior.
Thanks and God bless,
Ari
Best one I ever saw was Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I now own that bow.
psalm 44.6 maybe? kinda goes with what 20.7 is saying. and i have never seen it on a bow
I have a small cross on the upper limb...serves the perpous..looks good
Galatians 6:9
"Risen"
these are great and thanks for the input but I'm looking for something short if possible, only a few words.
God Bless
I use "s.D.g." in my signature... it stands for the latin phrase "soli Deo gloria" ("to God alone be glory"). Johann S. Bach used to use these initials at the end all the musical manuscripts he produced. He also would write "J.J." at the top of his manuscripts... "Jesu juva"... "Jesus, help".
Acts 2:38
"Coram Deo"- Before the face of God
Keeping the Faith!
Phillipian 4:13
What verse is it that states man is above all the critters on the earth? I think I really would like that one on a new bow I have coming.
L.R.
I like "The wood of the Cross"
Patrick
Lone Ranger- that would be Genesis 1:26
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Good post. I asked the same qustion awhile back. Ended up with Psalm 16:8 on by bow. Search "scripture on a bow" and you shoudl find that thread. Goodluck inyour "hunt" pun intended for the perfect scripture for your bow.
best

"Lamb of God"
A lot of meaning there
Genesis 1 verse 24 is close to what I was thinking.
L.R.
"forbid them not"
"Exercising My God Given Dominion Over Creation"
Too long though. :D
"Because of Calvary"
"God is Good!"
How about "John 3:16" or "Hebrews 12:2" ?
A favorite saying of a great preacher, now with the Lord, "Praise God and Shame on the Devil!"
There's always Acts 10:13 "Rise...Kill...And Eat."
Genesis 21:20
And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
My upper limb reads on on the inside of my new big Jim buffalo bow:
One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism.
Mark 8:29 "You are the Messiah"
1 corinthians 15 1-4 JUST BELIEVE
how about "to god be the glory" don
I had a bit of a walk in the woods and thought "Trust in Jesus" and "Trust in yourself", one for each limb maybe.
Still love to hear more suggestions.
God Bless
Amen
i'm not really into religion much , but my Widow PLX has "Pslam 23" inscribed ...
Bought the bow 2nd hand and didn't even know it had that inscribed , but its my favorite verse from the Bible so maybe .... gets you thinking ......
"Be still and know I AM"
This thread is just one of the reasons I love it here!
On my bow it says:
To reconcile all things
Col 1:20
"Others" Because Jesus taught us to "esteem others better than ourselves."
Alpha Omega
Through him we live.
The Lord is my Shepherd?
"My Lord and my God"
I put "Christ is the focus" on my Moab. It helps me remember that no matter what I am doing in the woods, He is the reason I am there. It comes from two passages...1 Cor. 10:31 and Eph. 1:20-23
In archery I am reminded as I focus on the shot, we all "miss the mark" and it is only by the saving blood of Christ that we are saved. What verse would remind us of this?
Jesus, i Trust YOU ! It is enscribed on my brand new Maddog Longbow from Mike at Maddog Archery. It is Sweeeeet Tea for sure.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
The bold part says it all.
I struggled with a good verse so, I went this route.
Matt

Snag, here's a few:
Ephesians 1:7 (KJV) In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Colossians 1:14 (KJV) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Revelation 1:5 (KJV) And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
I am an agnostic, but maybe you could use sonrise?
Psalm 119:162
"I rejoice in Your promise"
For me though it would be the most profound moment of my life. An instuction to me at 3am one March morning in 1997, "See Micah". I was obediant and found two words in Chapter 2, Verse 4 that provided the most wonderful and profound shock of my life.
Philipians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord always - again I say rejoice!
I love this thread, how fantastic is this!!
Jesus called James and John "boanerges"; pronounced borganis, which means sons of thunder, so I named my Widow "Boanerge" and had them put that on the upper limb.
My Lord and my God
Jesus
I like verses or verse-quotes that remind me of something important. Things that stimulate me to think deeper about my relationship to God and the world and people around me. It helps me to keep from making something (my job, my car, my bow, hunting, etc.) into a virtual "idol" by adoring it too much. I really, really like shooting, and if I'm not careful, archery gets too much attention from me.
For example:
"Every knee shall bow" Romans 14:11
Here's my inscription on my Black Widow, from I Chronicles 28:20:
That verse is one that my dad "gave" to me years ago, when I first moved away from home.
Archie
I like this simple latin phrase:
"A cruce salus" or salvation through the cross.
PDK25 wrote "I am an agnostic, but maybe you could use sonrise?" Somebody tell me where else would you have this level of tolerance on another bow site? I love this place :notworthy: PDK25 appreciate your inputs.
I like that "Sonrise". A lot of meaning with a few strokes!
Snag, Proverbs 3:5-6 it's what I have on my PLX
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight.
Genesis 21:20
And God was with the lad, and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
I love ''to God be the glory'' so true and a good reminder to honor God with our hunting, shooting and passions.
I always inscribe Psalm 91:5 on my personal bows:
"Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flieth by day."
Here's a few pictures:

By His Blood or Bloodshed or His Bloodshed or His Blood shed for me or "Without the shedding of blood..." as in "there is no forgiveness of sin"
I have a BW SAIII with two sets of limbs and had them refinished by Black Widow and put " Praise The Lord " on both sets.

Great thread ! I have Psalms 7:12 on mine.
Nothing but the blood, or Power in the blood.
Job 29:20
Genesis 49:24
He is ALIVE!
Amazed by the number of believers! What a great thread! One of my favorites is Mathew 16:24-27. I wear it on a wrist band.
"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For what good is it to a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man offer in exchange for his soul? I tell you, the Son of Man is coming in His Father's glory and with the angels and He will reward each person according to what he has done."
Great thread ! Making me think right now, cool stuff here !

HMMMM ON JUne 18th SOUTH MS BOHUNTER Stated ( in response to PDK25 ) "Somebody tell me where else would you have this level of tolerance on another bow site ?" GOOD POINT , South MS BOwhunter EXCEPT this site only has tolerance in certain directions !
EG: TWO threads in the last two years which dealt with members being "MASONS" have been shut down almost imediately! ( One was merely asking who Might be a MASON here)
Now this is an organizations that REQUIRES you to be a beleiver ine ONE GOD and belcive inan after life with judgement just to be come a member . An organization that GIVES you a BIBLE and encourages you to read it . BUT IT is not tolerated here .
The other funny thing that cracks me up over that is that there is so much emphasis on ST JUDES HOSPITAL here ( AND RIGHTLY SO THAT IS A geaT Thing done here ) but the MAIN founder, of St Judes , DANNY THOMAS ( actor and comedian ) was a " Shriner" ( You have to be a MASON to be a Shriner" ) IRONIC ?
Sorry just had to VENT on Tolerance
I have no problem with the religious threads and prayer requests ( Dont get me wrong about that I LIKE THEM ) afterll I got to page 4 on a 5 page thread to find the quote im writing about and was enjoying the thread but sorry i had to respond
That said I like the idea of SONRISE and jsut the simple cross
Awsome Thread Folks!! :clapper:
Mark 8:36
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
Always..."the Father, Son and Holy Spirit"
God Bless, Pierre
The Bible is a thick book with a whole lotta truths but it all boils down to one thing...
John 3:16
RC
Impressive thread. The way things are today, it does my heart good to read a thread like this.
Psalm 37:4
"Find your delight in the Lord
who will give you your heart's desire.
Amen RC !
II Kings 13:17 "...The arrow of the LORD's deliverance...."
I use a Chi Rho symbol: (http://i545.photobucket.com/albums/hh375/NorthernCaliforniaHunter/IMG_0105.jpg)
Obedience is more important than sacrifice.
Obedience is more important than sacrifice.
I have "Tikvah" on my BW PCHx.
Not a Bible phrase per say, but how about
"Too Blessed to Be Stressed"
It's the name I have given to my camp also.
My goal is to someday have 5 bows each with one of the 5 sola's inscribed on them
sola gratia - grace alone
sola fide - faith alone
sola scriptura - scripture alone
sola Christus- Christ alone
sola Deo gloria - for the glory of God alone
Khardrunner, if your Missus is devout, then you have a great case for getting some new bows!
I had a Black Widow with the word Vapour on it. Came from James 4:14. "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life but a vapour, that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away.
Reminded me that life is like the flight of an arrow, it is fast and short. Also the life of my prey. And most important, that I should think of how I spend my time and that sometimes my time may be better spent with family and friends rather than sitting in a tree, because their life is like a Vapour also.
I have 1 Timothy 1:12-14 on my Great Northern Critter Gitter.
"All Mighty" Now note, that I did not say "God All Mighty" and that is because some folks do not believe in god, but they have a strong spiritual direction. I believe that God is the All Mighty and being the All Mighty, God has the power to speak to all people in all kinds of ways and belief systems.
"Spirit" -- Spirit of god is within me, Spirit of my father and family is within me, the Human spirit is within me, the spirit of my prey.

I think your jumping to conclusions here, just because a thread asking who is a Mason was closed doesn't mean its because they aren't tolerated. Asking who is a Mason is not traditional bow hunting related, maybe if you asked who has their masonic lodge number printed on their bow it would of been fine?
EXODUS 20:5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
God Bless
I have the words " Jesus, I trust you! " on my bow.

Amen, Brother!
PHIL 4:13
I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHEN ME
That is one of my favorites Its going on the top limb of my longbow being built
Genesis 27 1-4 would be a good one
"Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself".
My bow came to me with Revelation 6:2 written on it. It's not particularly meaningful to me but still cool.
Ben - I know the make and Model of 3 of them, though none are in my possession... yet
Hill Tembo
MOAB
Black Widow MA
I have a Kohannah Kurve right now that I'm liking enough at the moment that it has a chance to make the forever list.
He is Risen.
Hunter 709.....that passage of scripture refers to the Antichrist! :scared: Send your bow to me immediately, I will dispose of it properly for you. :biglaugh:
This a great thread. I was thinking a few weeks ago how much I missed traditional archery and the people that participate in it, I've been away awhile. Threads like this are a big part of why.
First time I saw this on the bottom of someone's post I didn't have to wonder what it meant, it just clicked... TGBTG
Laus Deo (Praise be to GOD)
How about this one
"Apostles of Ardennes"
He is the patron saint of hunters
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 118:24
Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
Matthew 22:37-39
Matthew 6: 9-13 "The Lord's Prayer"
Our Father in heaven
Hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come.
Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.
Matthew 22:38 You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
These are just a few that I like.
I am sure some have already been mentioned

My Timberhawk(due in Sept) will have Psalms 119:105:
"Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path."
For me it says "Anytime your lost in life or in the woods, remember....God is always there"
