Title: Biblical wording on a bow
Post by: Ari on June 17, 2011, 06:30:00 PM
Hey, I know a lot of you have some biblical saying on your bows so maybe you could help me out?

I've been looking from something to put on a new bow that I'm getting, something to remind me never to forget Jesus, short and sweet would probably be the best fit, doesn't have to be a bible verse just a reminder to our savior.

Thanks and God bless,
Ari

I use "s.D.g." in my signature... it stands for the latin phrase "soli Deo gloria" ("to God alone be glory").  Johann S. Bach used to use these initials at the end all the musical manuscripts he produced.  He also would write "J.J." at the top of his manuscripts... "Jesu juva"... "Jesus, help".

"Exercising My God Given Dominion Over Creation"

Too long though.    :D

"Because of Calvary"

"God is Good!"

How about "John 3:16" or "Hebrews 12:2"  ?

A favorite saying of a great preacher, now with the Lord, "Praise God and Shame on the Devil!"

There's always Acts 10:13 "Rise...Kill...And Eat."

Psalm 119:162
"I rejoice in Your promise"

For me though it would be the most profound moment of my life.  An instuction to me at 3am one March morning in 1997, "See Micah".  I was obediant and found two words in Chapter 2, Verse 4 that provided the most wonderful and profound shock of my life.

I like verses or verse-quotes that remind me of something important.  Things that stimulate me to think deeper about my relationship to God and the world and people around me.  It helps me to keep from making something (my job, my car, my bow, hunting, etc.) into a virtual "idol" by adoring it too much.  I really, really like shooting, and if I'm not careful, archery gets too much attention from me.

For example:
"Every knee shall bow"  Romans 14:11

Here's my inscription on my Black Widow, from I Chronicles 28:20:

That verse is one that my dad "gave" to me years ago, when I first moved away from home.

Amazed by the number of believers!  What a great thread!  One of my favorites is Mathew 16:24-27.  I wear it on a wrist band.

"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.  For what good is it to a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?  Or what can a man offer in exchange for his soul?  I tell you, the Son of Man is coming in His Father's glory and with the angels and He will reward each person according to what he has done."

I had a Black Widow with the word Vapour on it. Came from James 4:14. "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life but a vapour, that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away.
Reminded me that life is like the flight of  an arrow, it is fast and short. Also the life of my prey. And most important, that I should think of how I spend my time and that sometimes my time may be better spent with family and friends rather than sitting in a tree, because their life is like a Vapour also.

I think your jumping to conclusions here, just because a thread asking who is a Mason was closed doesn't mean its because they aren't tolerated. Asking who is a Mason is not traditional bow hunting related, maybe if you asked who has their masonic lodge number printed on their bow it would of been fine?

Black Widow MA

I have a Kohannah Kurve right now that I'm liking enough at the moment that it has a chance to make the forever list.

This a great thread. I was thinking a few weeks ago how much I missed traditional archery and the people that participate in it, I've been away awhile. Threads like this are a big part of why.
First time I saw this on the bottom of someone's post I didn't have to wonder what it meant, it just clicked... TGBTG

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalms 118:24

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

Matthew 22:37-39

Matthew 6: 9-13 "The Lord's Prayer"

Our Father in heaven

Hallowed be your name.

Your Kingdom come.

Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.

Matthew 22:38 You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

These are just a few that I like.

I am sure some have already been mentioned

My Timberhawk(due in Sept) will have Psalms 119:105:

"Your word is a lamp for my feet,
  a light on my path."

For me it says "Anytime your lost in life or in the woods, remember....God is always there"
