Hey all I just wanted to start by saying what a great time I had at this years Auction! Between Poundcake (yeah MK, LLC!),TGMM, Turkey Calls, and of course the Bama Twisters it was my most exciting St. Jude's Auction to date! My most sincere thanks go out to the Twisters for all the hard work they are putting in with the making of the knives and sheaths, and also to the rest of the gang that bid on these fine works of art that the Twisters created. It was truly a pleasure to participate in this with you all.
On a final note I know all are busy (bear hunting, working, etc...) but are there any updates on knives in the works...I just miss seeing pictures of the great forging and finished products that were being put up in the auction post. I am certainly not trying to pressure ANYONE, but if there are any pics floating around of the progress being made I'd love to see some! If not, that is okay too.
Thanks again to all involved.
Travis House
Yep that was fun. Looking forward to seeing what comes out of the meeting of the well forged minds.
As am I Zeke!
Travis
Where are the rest of you...?
Travis
Were here just been busy,it was fun thanks for collaborating with us,Doc on a bear hunt don't know about the others.Just wanted to say thanks for helping the kids.
Hey Guys, i am deployed again but i keep my eyes on the gang. I am going through with drawls after the auction. Seems i am always hitting refresh.
I am over joyed at the response we received on the Bama Twister and the overall outcome of the auction. I know i am only one of many but i am proud of all of us who have put so much energy into St Judes. Not sure i have ever said it but i am thankfull to all of the guys who have worked hard behind the scenes. You guys are incredible.
OH yeah, one last thing. I heard a rumor today that some more knifes were forged recently for the Twister 12. I bet with a little coaxing you guys could get some pictures !!
Thanks for starting this Travis !
Well, I don't hve any pictures, but I CAN confirm that another 3 blades were forged out on Wednesday & the final blade will be done on Sunday. There is still some grinding & heat treating to do & they'll be on their way to Wisconsin for handles, before turning around for Florida. I'll be able to get them up to Mr. Whip on Tuesday. I was supposed to take them up to Comptons, but unfortunately The Wife thought I should spend at least some time helping with the business before galivanting of to enjoy m'self (again!) :goldtooth:
Excellent news Rob, thanks for the update. Really looking forward to some picks of these knives all together. Maybe Whip could post a few when he gets some handles put on 'em, and then some gator sheaths...man is it ever going to be worth the wait!
Travis
I'm at Compton this week - spent this evening visiting with fellow Twister Rob, Skyler, & Kenny along with a bunch of other Trad Gnager. Before heading over here I finished up the scales on one more Twister blade and put scales on two others. Rob will send up three more next week.
Jeff should be heading home from bear camp tomorrow. We'll be back in full production next week. I'll get some more pictures added soon.
Sounds good. Thanks for the update Whip.
Travis
Just got Larry on a plane back to Florida...along with two of my five knives for the Twisters. Actually there is now an additonal Twister/Forger as I got to teach Larry how to forge up his own Twister :) We finished it with ten minutes to spare before leaving for his plane. Didn't even get to take a picture....tippit
PS: Larry & I did get our Bears too!
Not surprised you and Larry scored :bigsmyl:
The "Tomatoe Blade" showed up on Wednesday. Left for Compton on Thursday and got back today. Will get her scaled up and sent off ASAP.
Sounds awesome guys!
Can't wait to see the beauty that rose from the rubble of the tornados out yonder and raised a bunch of money for the kids.
Y'all are the cream or the crop...
This is excellent news. Congrats on the bears Doc and Larry, how about some photos of those bruins.
Travis
Just arrived home. Saw this thread and thought I'd post pics of what I have so far.
The top one is the twister with its sheath. The other 2 are what I brought home from Jeff's to make up sheaths.
This next pic is the one that Jeff helped with forging today. I received a lot of help on this one from the master! Thanks Jeff!
p.s. Benjy, if you read this I received the gator hide. Thank you my friend as I'll be able to finish up several more sheaths for the Twister sisters!
If you look real closely at Larry's knife, you'll notice my stamp with the arrow going up. That's Larry's New Touch Mark :) Doc
Beautiful stuff guys, man I'm excited to see the end results!
I have always loved the simplicity of a 550 cord wrapped blade. Thy just scream utilitarian...
I had a very nice fighting knife when in the service that was cord wrapped that I paid a month's pay for but it was stolen from my truck before I got deployed with it.
Congrats on the bears guys, that is awesome!
Let's try to keep this on the front page.
Travis
The Twister thread on the St Jude auction was action packed and there are some very talented and generous folks that made it all happen. I wish I would of had Jack Guard selling for me when I was in the box business, that boy has some energy. Great job all ... For the Kids
It was a blast. Can't wait to see all the blades this group put together. All of them are artists and philanthropists, just a great group of guys.
Larry has a knife to be proud of, that is for certain! It is a real beauty. Congrats Larry.
Travis
Travis,
You bet I'm proud of that knife. Jeff's forging abilities are the best -- he explains everything step-by-step that makes it sound easy until you start swinging the hammer. Without his guidance and patience, I probably would have ended up with a spoon.
The time and energy it takes to forge a piece of steel into a thing of beauty that each one of the Twister Sisters will be is something else.
You did a great job Larry,I'd be proud too.
I'm glad that I was able to get in on this one. You guys are great, it was certainly fun to watch all the bantering going on. Can't wait to see who gets what knives. They all look great. Maybe someday when I grow up I can make knives like these.
Nick
This is such a great thread, Its like the auction keeps on going. I am already gathering thoughts for next year.
Love that knife you did Larry.
Ken, man, i tell ya, i would love to have worked for you. I like your style.
It's been a fast week around here trying to catch up after Compton last weekend. But I finally got back in Twister production mode today. Two more ready to go, and another partially completed. I think there are three more on their way here from Tennessee.
They look great Joe! Nice workmanship on them scales!
Jeff's blades are the best! Can't wait to get a look at them in person.
Man those things look awesome! Always been kinda partial to a blade on the smaller side. But I'd be honored with any of the twister knives. It will be a very special and meaningful piece of my hunting equipment.
Travis
Man those look awesome! I love how the grain shows with how the scales are cut. Very nice!
With all the time I am at home these days holding our newborn I am watching a bunch of tv. I have no doubt that the twister crew making these blades would be a hit reality series!
Serious talent and big hearts involved...
I just happen to see 3 more of them today while visiting with Robtattoo. They are very nice. One felt like an extension of my index finger for sure. Congrats to the winners and builders of the Twisters.
Oh boy Whip. Those handles look fantastic.
I am looking forward to seeing the rest. I hope we can get a photo of all the knifes and then with each owner. Would be good advertisement for next year.
'kay. Here's a sneek-peek at the latest 3. Post grinding, pre-drilling & heat treating. Two from me, one from Don.....
Ahhh excuse me, Jack you forgot one thing...Two of the Twelve have to be in Twister Uniform for that picture :biglaugh: tippit
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/tippit/Tenn%20Classic%202011/CIMG3548.jpg)
Looking good boys!
The knives too...
Zbearclaw, did you forget to put your glasses on or were you just talking about the knives? :bigsmyl:
Wow!! Now that is a sweet looking trio of blades! I would be happy to be in "uniform" for my first pic with a twister...the next pic will be an action pic with mule deer or elk playing a key role.
Thanks for the sneak peek Rob!
Travis
Now that I think about it I think they should be traveling uniforms...then none of the twelve would have "hurt feelings" that they weren't able to share in the fun. :p
Travis
I have an idea for next year. The Terrific Twister Twelve need to forge up blades for the next group. Kinda like passing the torch to the next generation of Twisters. Heck we could have Twister lessons and maybe I could bring Il Bastardo from Bear Quest with me...of course after the forge cools down :smileystooges: tippit
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/tippit/Quebec%20Quest%202011/QuebecQuestV2011149.jpg)
Twelve Twister blades for next year, sounds like a great idea to me Doc. A little sip of the Il Bastardo sounds good too!
I'd have to practice 24/7 until next year to shine the shoes of the twisters let alone make blades that could even walk in the shadow of these...
I'm with you on this one Zeke. Not too sure I could do justice to the next round of recipients. But would love to try if I wasn't so darn far from y'all.
Travis
Can't let this slip to the third page!!!
Man the anticipation is making this all the more enjoyable!
Take Care All!
Travis
Takes too long to find this on page 3 so I am bumping it back up to the top.
Travis
Thanks for keeping it up top. I can't wait to see the whole bushel of blades these artisans have put together.
I am liking your ideas Tippit, of all the winners forging up next years batch. Would be a great reason to get a group of us together.
Oh, but i am not sure about those pants you all are wearing. I saw them first hand. Thank goodness they weren't my size.
I think thats a great idea, however, I would have to do some serious planning to make it down from Alaska. But I really would be proud/pleased to work with some of these great bladesmiths.
What would you think of a "Twister Forge In" at the Tennessee Classic next spring? Maybe we can get Rob and/or Don to bring up a forge and an anvil and set up a shop for the weekend?
I think it would be awesome...however with a young family and a job that requires extensive travel may be difficult for me to make it from Idaho, but I would be very happy to try to find a way to get there from Idaho. When is the Tenn. Classic?
Travis
I'm not sure of exact dates - last weekend in April or 1st of May I think?? It is just northwest of Nashville TN by about 1/2 hour.
I think its a great idea also. I only hope i will be around at that time.
With just a little bit of planning I'll bet we could put up any Twisters who need to fly in. So no need to worry about camping gear.
Airport pick up included
Whip, that sounds like a great idea. I could make it a visit to my folks in sw Indiana. Sure would like to meet some of you fine tg folks.
A Twister forge in !!!!!!
Can't wait Whip, You know I'll be there ! We'll be forging, and making bows. I don't think it could get much better.
Well I guess it could be better I almost forgot we got poundcake coming!!!! :bigsmyl:
I'm in! This is something to really look forward to.
I'll try to be there work permitting,it should be a blast.
Can't have this on page 3
Travis
Happy July 4th. I just talked with Kenny (4runner) and he is finishing up Melissa's knife with some pretty spectacular spalted oak slabs. He'll post pictures when finished. I said since this is more a kitchen/camp knife that a sheath wouldn't be necessary...but Larry said he be glad to do one if Melissa wants one. So it's up to Melissa to decide...tippit
Good stuff guys. Can't wait to see the whole group of knives that come out of this.
Deer season starts this weekend around here, though my newborn won't allow daddy to partake just yet I can't wait to field dress a California critter with a twister knife!
Man I love spalted woods! Can't wait to see that knife completed. Heck I can hardly stand the wait to see them all completed!
This is good stuff!
Travis
Who has the names of all the folks' that are getting knives?
The Wilson's are visiting here with me this week. So I need to get in touch with Jeff Springer, Joe Lasch, and Rob Peeler to see if we can assign names to the knives. So far I have 6 of the 12 (I think it is 12 knives going out). I believe Rob sent Joe another 3 knives for scales and Don has 2 that he brought down to show me that were recently forged. I know that Jeff sent Kenny the one for Melissa to put on scales. So that accounts for 12 knives. Since the Wilson's are here, maybe Chloe Beth Wilson can be the "name picker" and we'll start assigning names to knives.
I have 3 sheaths done, and with the 3 I just received, Don and Skyler are going to help me with some sheath making. With what I've seen so far with the quality and workmanship of the knives, everyone is going to be more than pleased.
Larry
Larry,
There should be 11 knives and one forging lesson for Tique. Melissa's Tomato slicer that Kenny is finishing is already out of the draw and "whatshername" errr I mean Melissa has already emailed me that she does not need a sheath!
Hopefully Melissa won't mind if I share her email she sent me...it just goes to show the spirit & competitiveness of our "Bama Twisters :biglaugh: tippit
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello!
Although the offer of the sheath is appreciated, it seems like a lot of work and isnt necessary! Of course the fact that I will have a Tippit knife before my husband does is priceless!!!!! And I will take great pleasure repeatedly telling him he isnt allowed to use it! :) He has been trying to steal the knife I carry in my purse for years without any success so this will be a new challenge for me!
Thank you,
Melissa
I have the three that Rob sent - two from him and one from Don I believe. I have the scales cut out but still need to get them glued up, pinned, and shaped. Hope to have this batch completed next week and they will be on their way to Florida.
Oh MAN!!! Now we're talking about drawing names! This is getting even better. I love the anticipation...I think pics have been posted of all forged blades with the exception of the two that Larry mentioned that Don brought down. I could be mistaken, but have been trying to keep a good eye one this. I feel like I won the lottery! And every time a pic of a new forged blade is posted I get the same feeling...awesome, just awesome!
Travis
Travis
I sent my payment in for the second share yesterday and sent Doug a PM.
I'll have to start squirreling back now for next year :D
I got a little carried away this year but man was it worth it! Awsome effort from the twister boys. Look forward to that forge in at the the classic Whip.
Also any of the knife makers and sheath makers that will be at the Classic and are interested in building selfbows send me a message and I will get the staves together for it.
Stiks
This is going to be so kook. Wish I could add more than $$
I know I can"t spell
Don't worry about it, most of the folks on here can't read.
:goldtooth:
Rob...you're always spot on! Man, I love it!
:notworthy:
Travis
Awesome!
I'd have to guess there will be a lot of critters that will meet these knives!
Can't wait to see all of them.
Rahb, yoo izz purt tee phun nee...
Well folks, I just wanted to be sure my 1000 post was on this topic so.....Let's get her back to page 1!
Travis
Let's get this back up top.
Stiks
Just saw Larry's post about his orange slice cookies with Chloe Beth and it reminded me to find this and bump it up! I'm wondering if there was any name drawing at Larry's place while Chloe was there?
Good luck to all this season and am looking very forward to seeing some "working" pics of these Twister Knives in action!
Travis
Can't let this settle on the third page!
Let's get it back on the front.
Travis
Got to keep this up top. Can't wait to drool over more pics...
Just got back into town from a 5 day camping trip with the family and not sure where this is at, but page 4 isn't a good place for it...unless a new thread has been started that I missed!?!
Travis
Back TTT this is getting nailbiting
You can't rush a masterpiece,patience, patience, patience.
To the top...
Sorry this is all taking so long guys. PBS Odd year last week set me back, along with trying to get a bunch of bows done this month. I finally got back on the Twisters though and thought I would share a few pics of the process of adding the handle scales.
This is the G10(?) stuff that Rob provided.
I cut them to rough size, add some Smooth On epoxy, and pin them to the blade using brass pins. They look pretty rough at this point. I cover them with Saran Wrap before clamping so I don't have to grind off my C clamps!
A little work with the belt, spindle, and drum sanders and they start to take shape a bit.
Then on to the hand work with files and sandpaper.
That's where I ended last night. My plan is to finish these three up before leaving for Denton Hill on Sunday.
Whip those are really beautiful! I am guessing you cut the scales at an angle so the grain shows more? Awesome!
I'm still excited every time I read this thread...
Whip,
They are looking great.
Oh boy those are looking good.
Whip, thats some fine work you are doing. Cool to see and inside look at the scale installation.
Thanks for sharing.
Those look fantastic Whip. Thanks so much for the pics, like others I get excited all over again every time I read this especially when new pics are posted.
Travis
That G10 is fantastic. SWEET!
Zeke,
I put them on flat and then sand and file them down angling to the front to bring out the grain in them. I really love the pattern they make.
Gotcha. The pics make it hard to see that there is enough angle to show that much pattern. I have always loved that gray actionwood. Had wanted a gray widow for a few decades since I saw my first. Beautiful pattern for sure.
I'll bloody mine as often as possible! May even get blood on it that isn't mine!
Awesome stuff guys.
Well, I know I have seriously procrastinated on the completion of this project. Bur really, I didn't expect this.
Yesterday I received a phone call from Larry Surtees. He said he was on his way to Wisconsin all the way from Florida to personally pick up the Twisters that I have been working on. Talk about putting the pressure on!
Actually, Larry was really coming through WI to visit his grandson Justin, and is going to continue from here next week all the way to Washington to deliver a truck to grandson Christopher. Today they stopped up for a visit, and in the process we finished up three more Twisters.
We pressed Justin into action doing the final sanding on the scales. I polished them up, and now they are with Larry for the final step in the process when he will custom craft a sheath for each of them.
Justin is now officially a member of Team Twister, and added his skills to the final finish of this set of knives.

Great job guys, glad to see Dustin has joined the group.
Those look great. I'm going to take a wild guess that Dustin is in the 13-15 year range. My son Dakota has the same expression when he's really excited about things. LOL Welcome aboard Dustin
Dustin, I'm sure glad you joined the team. We need all the help we can get :bigsmyl:
Larry, You look a little less formal than the last time I saw you in your Bear Huntin' Outfit. Have a safe & enjoyable time going across country to see Christopher.
Whip, I'll see in a couple days over some peach refreshments...I hope! :campfire: tippit

Ummmm, I think it's all gone....
Hiccup!
I think Rob needs to get to Denton to replenish the refreshment JUG sice Joe Lush,, I mean Lasch emptied the JUG.

Oppps!! Apparently my hearing is on par with Doc's - Larry's grandson's name is Justin, not Dustin! :knothead: :knothead:
I corrected it on my post with the pictures from yesterday. Welcome to the Twister Team J! :clapper: :clapper:
Thank you very much for getting involved in this Justin, can't wait to see which knives get drawn by who, and then for some action photos of the knives with some freshly arrowed animals. I'm thinking we outta be getting close to name drawing time? Man those knives look awesome...all of them.
One question that may show my ignorance...but then that wouldn't be a first ;) what exactly is G10? If it looks in person anything like it looks on the pic's I've been drooling over on the monitor...I REALLY like it!
Travis
Hey Travis.
G10 is a resin impregnated, fiber matting. It's commonly used for circuit boards & electrical resistors. It's completely inert, water proof, oil & heat resistant and practically bullet proof! It can be drilled, filed, sanded, polished, tapped, turned & milled. It is impact resistant, doesn't shrink, warp or swell. It increases your libido, makes you more attractive, increases the value of your house, mows the lawn, wakes you up with a cup of coffee and smells like warm cinnamon.
Looks pretty too!
Thanks for the all the great info Rob. Now I really want one of the knives with that G10. I was hoping that it also lured in 6 point bull elk within 15 yards everytime...but I guess one material can't do it all!!! You definately have a way with words Rob! I loved it when Biggie referred to you as having a face full of fishing tackle and you put it in your signature line...priceless!
Travis
Beautiful work guys, and congrats on being inducted to the twisters Justin!
Awesome!
To the top...
Can't leave this on page 3. I'm getting very excited to use one of these knives on my elk/muley hunt in mid-september.
Travis
I keep hearing about the heat waves back east, are these directly related to the twisters forging up a storm?
Just got back from Denton Hill. Picked up Melissa's knife from Kenny. I'll get a picture up in the next couple of daysand shipped too...tippit
Here is 8 of the 12 from a few weeks ago at Larrys home....Gonna be lots of action from the Twisters the next few weeks..... (http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/rickybob_2006/2011/DSC_0009.jpg)
Please no more pictures. I kick myself everytime I see them for not going in with ya'll. I could have had a TWISTER!!!!!!!
Seeing these pics makes me glad I went in for another share for my dad. Hope we'll both skin critters this fall with our twisters. :D
That pic is awesome Skyler. Thanks for posting it. Really get's my blood pumping! I love them all!
Travis
Beautiful work guys! It's going to be fun to take them to the field and see how they perform. I'm guessing flawlessly!
Oh Goodness !!! Thanks for the picture Skyler.
Those kinfes are looking fantastic. I hope all of you guys are jealous ! I don't mean it in a bad way, i hope you remember it for next year and bid high for the Kids.
Hummmm, here is a thought, i might consider giving up my knife this year for a large donation to St Judes !!!!! Anyone interested.
Its that even allowed, hope i didnt break a rule.
You guys know how to find me !
Melissa's Tomato Slicer should be in the mail in the next couple of days. Kenny brought it to me at Denton this past week. He did a great job with the handle plus picking out an absolutely beautiful piece of spalted oak for a beautiful lady...tippit
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/tippit/St%20Judes%202011/MellisaBamaTwisterKnife006.jpg)
That's a beautiful mater slicer for sure!
That is one the best looking mater slicers I ever did see!
Man I swear I've looked at this page 100 times!
Beautiful work guys, can't wait to wrap my fingers around a twister and break down a few critters with it...
Can't have it on page 3. That tomato slicer is AWESOME!
Travis
Beautiful knife! I know you guys are getting excited! Good job Kenny and Jeff!
Took me a while to find this. Page four is no place for a thread this good! Leaving for the big elk/Muley hunt in a month and gotta admit that I'm a little anxious to find out which fine twister will be accompanying me.
Keep up the fine work twisters.
Travis
I talked with Larry yesterday and we are going to try to get this project finished up.
We need to collect mailing addresses for each of the Twister Twelve. Jack is going to help out with this part of the process, but if you could make his job easier by posting it here or sending him a PM that would be great.

Travis
Here is what we have at this point.
First is Melissa's Tomato Slicer, which Jeff is shipping directly to her.
The following pictures are of a total of 10 blades that will be in the drawing. There is one more knife yet in process and will get pics of that one ASAP.
Somewhere in our confusion we came up short a blade, so Rob was kind enough to add another yesterday.
Adding the one that is still to come leaves us with 11 knives in the drawing.
This is great!! Thanks Whip. Adding a little fuel to the fire of my desire! I love it, and love all those blades. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Thanks for throwing another one in Rob, it looks awesome and I'd be proud to carry it!
Travis
I'm a little behind on sheaths. So as I get them made, I'll send them out.
I think Miss Chloe Beth Wilson is going to pick out the lucky recipients of the knives.
So I am ready to send out the first three. I'll get of them up by tomorrow.
Thanks for ya'lls patience!!!!!
Take your time Larry. It will all be worth the wait.
This has been a larger undertaking on the Twister craftsmen's parts. I am very thankful to know you are doing the sheaths. So no rush. Besides, you are retired now. This has been like we have put you back to work. LOL.
See ya soon, Jack
Looking forward to field dressing something with one soon!
Beautiful work guys. It has been a treat...
Just want to thank all who made this possible, you guys are awesome, thanks Larry.
Okay, here's the last one. Just picked it up from Don yesterday, hot off the forge.
Because Whip is presently gallivanting around Wyoming, with nary a care in the world, chasing antelope, Iron Bulls & trout (JEALOUS! :( ) I'll be handling this one. I'll have it done & down to Larry, along with the Osage handled knife (my apologies to whoever receives that one :) ) at some point is week.......

I believe the drawing can now take place :D
Another beautiful knife!
Y'all are awesome!
Beautiful additions !!
Rob, that Osage knife looks like it has a little mojo in it. Its a great addition.
Melissa's went out today...so the action starts :) tippit
Chloe Beth is going to draw the names in just a few minutes.........
Gentlemen...Start...Your....Engines!!!
AWESOME!
Travis
Ohhhhh boy !!! Here we goooooo!
Like waiting to see if you got drawn for that special hunt.
TTT
The CA big game draw didn't give me any love this year but this one is guaranteed to please!!!!!!!
"In just a few minutes"...now that is almost "borderline cruel"
But man is it still worth the wait!!!
Travis
Larry will have the list this afternoon...and they will start leaving Florida for their new homes very soon.
PLEASE post "in-the-field" pics of these knives in use when yall can.....get-um bloody!
Nice looking on the last knife! Thanks Rob for taking care of adding the scales to it for me - that will help keep it moving along faster.
So that one will be #11. Good luck on the draw everyone. But there is no way not to win.
:D Just in time for guttin' and cuttin'
Once I get the names and sheaths done, I'll start sending out. I am on my way to take Bill and Tracy Dunn lizard chasing until early next week.
I'll have 3 in the mail when I return, and I'll start knocking out the rest of the sheaths.
My hat's off to Tippit, Whip, DW, Skyler, Rob Tattoo, and all of you lucky recipients!!!!! This has been fun!
Thanks and good skinning!
Larry
Can't wait!
Looking forward to testing its edge on hide and meat!
Let's get her back to the front.
Travis
This is going to be worth the wait,,
All my knives are either being delivered or with Larry getting dressed up. With Irene coming to visit Boston on Sunday, I decided to finish off my Boston Twister with a pretty handle instead of ole paracord. Need something to keep up with the Twister Twelve :) I'll post a couple of pictures if I still have power through the weekend...tippit
Can't wait to see what the end result is guys.
Awesome for sure...
Irene blew into town this morning. Luckily we kept power so I was able to play in my shop with rain and tree limbs bouncing off the roof :) Did manage to finish up my "Boson Twister" tippit

Nice Jeff, very nice
Thats a beauty,nice job
I absolutely love that knife Jeff. You're style is very very nice. I consistently find myself drooling over your knives and this one is no exception.
Travis
That's Beautiful Jeff !!!!
By the way everyone, not to rub it in or anything, Buuuuttttt, I saw the list from the draw. Sorry, secret stuff, cant tell you all. Man, am i mean sometimes.
You all are gonna be real happy.
Jack I was just starting to like you!
Well maybe I'll overlook it this time, LOL
Can't wait!!!!
I've seen the list as well. Jack's right - can't imagine any disappointments on there!
So is it going to remain a secret until y'all just open your boxes as they arrive? Oh the anticipation!
Joe,
Are you posting from an antelope blind :) I think we should just let everyone know as this has to be torture!
You all are just being plain out mean!!!
When I was in the Army there was a crime called Cruel and Unusual Punishment, I think this almost fits the bill.
I can hardly wait.
Nick
The suspense is kinda nice really :D
Joe, When you getting back from chasing them antelope? I got a few things I need to get from you.
Stiks
And the Ref takes a point away.
Keep yer gloves up, that was below the belt!!!!
Can't wait guys. I am working on a bow that will hopefully initiate my twister's meeting hide and meat...
Jack now thats not fair, :readit:
I'll be sending out the first three within a few days.
Seeing all the knives, everyone should be extremely happy!
I think it has been a long and appreciated wait...but knowledge never hurt anyone!
Travis
Larry just wanted to thank you and the rest of the twister gang it's been fun for us and I'm sure alot of work for the rest. :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
OK, since its so early in the morning for me and everyone is asleep i will give you all the breakdown. Just don't tell the others.
Man, this jetlag has got me all groggy, be right back, i need to make a cup of coffee.
That Boston Twister is what a knife should be! Perfect marriage of form, function and beauty. Congrads to you Tippit.
Jack that must be some sloooow drip coffee.
I leave for Maine on the 9th hopefully I'll have a new functional work of art by my side.
Jeff you going to be around on the 10th?
Stiks - I'm back - just pulled in last night (antelopeless
!["" "[dntthnk]"]("graemlins/dntthnk.gif")
) But had a great time!
As the man who got this whole thing started we'll let Jack do the honors of posting the list....
OK, OK, I know, I am a baaaaaad person. Here we go.......................................................
The numbers next to the names correspond to the picture on page 9 of this thread.

Is there any chance of getting one picture of all the finished knives prior to shipping them? Would love to see them all in one place with sheathes, the whole works. Maybe edit the first thread to show them upfornt
That would be cool to have them all together in one photo, but the only problem is that would mean holding everyone up until all were finished. Some people are hoping to have their knives in time for upcoming trips so Larry had planned on sending them out as soon as each sheath is complete.
This has been a lot of fun and I personally hope that we do it again next year.......just without the Tornado's
We have got something "in the works" for next years Forging Material....it will be very unique in nature and will keep this Project tied to the Devistation that our area suffered in April.
I think that I'm speaking for the entire Twister Crew when I say Sincerly, that it was an Honor and it would not have been possible without the Bidders :clapper: Don & Skyler
Awesome work once again guys! I am extremely excited to take my blade and not only put it to constant use but also take a ton of pics for next years advertisement.
It has been a pleasure I'll enjoy every time I draw it from it's sheath.
Well said Zbear...your comments echo my thoughts exactly. My big bowhunt this year kicks off Sept. 15th. Sure hope to take the Twister on the adventure and put it to good use on some elk and muleys.
Thank you so much to everyone who was involved in this...it was awesome to play a small part in it...already saving for next year!
Travis
I for one am humbled by the effort that went into making this happen, alot of work and sweat went into these blades,I look forward to this auction every year to help the kids I'm a firm believer that no child should ever have to go through the pain and suffering that cancer causes, thank you all Larry.

Larry, don't think I could have said it better.

Well said.
I just looked at that purty pic of #5 for the 12th time today. Still makes me smile...
To think this all started cause we were trying to kill some time before dark set in so we could all go bow fishing!
That reminds me...who gets to hunt in Joe's & my outfit first :biglaugh: tippit
Not it.
I'd be happy to wear it, maybe even allow a photo in one of them...but hunt in 'em, that'd be a tough one.

I hear volunteer! Congrats Travis! :D
Nice Travis! You will look great in both sets...
as much as I love them duds I can honestly say I don't think they'll fit :D
Looks like it's all you Travis.
I'd be happy to oblige. Just send it with the blade Larry. Might get some midday bunny hunting pics in the outfit!
I love it!
Travis
Travis say it aint so,I don't think I could look at those again. :scared:
Sounds like a plan Travis!
Good stuff guys. Good luck to everyone this season. May you have ample opportunity to test these beautiful blades...
Any knives made it into the field yet? Can't wait to see some field pics...
Sorry guys! I've been covered up here lately. But as soon as I get back from South Carolina, I'm dedicating my time to the rest of the sheaths for the knives. I promised Travis his by the 15th, but unfortunately had a little trouble as knife wasn't finished. So Travis ended up with a Tippit blade that he'll explain later I'm sure. I'll have the shirt sent to you Travis -- can't wait to see pics of that shirt in action -- or maybe I can wait!!!!!!!
Any updates? Hoping to see some field photos soon.
I can't wait to put mine into a Kalistan buck, hog, or bear!
Any new pics? I'm not getting in the woods much right now (late season tags and a 3 month old). I'd love to see any finished pics or field photos.
Any news?
I've sent one out to Travis House. I need an addy for George Galan (Xroadshunter) as I have his 2 finished and ready to ship. I am sending out Kris McDonald's Twister, and I should have Rob's Osage Handle knife here within the next week or so. Kris you will get yours in 2 separate shippings once I get your 2nd knife and then the sheath done.
I am sorry folks that I've been on the hunting road for the last couple of weeks. Finished up a few more and are getting them shipped this week. I'll be gone for the next 3 weeks, and then I am home for a while. So I'll have them all out by mid-November.
Larry no excuses neccessary, thanks for finishing the knives your work is excellant.
Take your time bud and enjoy the huntin'
Sorry Larry I wasn't trying to rush you. I knew some had been shipped and I was looking for some field updates from the recepients.
I know they will be good luck in the field. I just don't want to miss any pics!
Thanks again for all the work that is going into these. Enjoy the woods! My tags aren't going to get me in the field until later in October and November.
I have started a different thread with an adventue of a twister...with a twist. It is titled "A special man...A special knife...A special hunt, Thank you Larry Surtees". When I am finished with it I will also post some field pics here with the knife.
Thanks and good luck to all.
Travis
Well I have a little bit of time to post some pics here on this thread of my elk/muley hunt in central Idaho. As I stated above anyone interested in the full details that may have missed them they can be seen/read in the above mentioned thread.
This really is a special knife and I was very priveledged and honored to carry it with me on that (and ALL future) hunt.

Best of luck to all the others that had anything to do with making this Bama Twisters adventure happen!
Travis
Awesome Travis! That knife obviously has good mojo and lots of history. Good luck keeping it covered in critter blood and adventure for many decades.
This deserves being brought back up to the top.
I spent more time with my daughter than deer this season but got out enough to log 100 or so miles in the wilderness. I still have a few weeks of bear left and hogs will start soon.
If anyone has field pics of their twisters in action that would be awesome!
Yep, your right Zeke, this does deserve to be seen again.
Nice going Travis. Am waaaaaaaaaaay jealous of you on this one.
Am looking forward to seeing more of the twister 12 in use.
I am away again so you all keep this going. Only 7 more months until the next auction.
Jack
Any other pics?
Any new pics or updates?
Just wondering myself if there had been any new devolopments or news on this one.
Travis
