hey guys. Just got back from cloverdale and what a great time(my first time). Got to shoot my first striker bow and just loved it but it was the first 3 piece longbow ive shoot. Just like to hear what other 3 pieces i should try out before making my decision. any advice would be welcome. Thanks Jim
I own a couple great plains 3 pc take downs and they are great shooting solid bows and have been around for years. Just shot a Sky 3 pc longbow not too long ago and that is also a fine shooting longbow with alot of adjustment. It will be one of my next bows. Dino
Jim, I checked out the new Robertson 3 pc. at Cloverdale. It was one of the "eco" models....no frills but it was a great looking little bow! The grip is what impressed me the most-just melted into my hand. Right at $600 and it is made by one (two) of the premier bowyers in the world! Good luck on your "bow" hunt! Mike
Just sold a Bear's Paw 3 piece longbow. Shoots great, just couldn't get comfortable with the handle
I would check a Pronghorn out.
i just sold a hornes 3 piece take down and am waitin on my new lost creek 3 piece take down from chad i realy like em for traveling
I'm with Shedrock on this one, Pronghorn. Awesome bows.
I had an RER LX. It was a fantastic shooting and handling bow. Very well made. Everything was top notch. LoweBow has it now, sniff lol. I highly suggest you check out the RER.
A Jim Jones Firefly gets my vote.
I would check out the Dan Toelke's 3 piece from Montana Longbows. There was a very recent post on them in Pow Wow. Fast, quiet, and awesome looking bows.
Take a look at a Northern Mist "Witbeck", purdy nice.
give a HILL COUNTRY K-2 a try. I have one and it is awesome to say the least. also try a morrison.
Stalker by South Cox. Great grip, workmanship, and great shooters. He is a sponsor here also. Good luck.
I'd look at any of the Horne 3 piece t/d's
Take a look at a Sarrels... I've been really impressed with his bows.
I have only shot a few but so far my favorite is a Randy Morin "The High-Breed".
I'll second the Sarrels Blueridge. It is my go-to bow. As a matter of fact, it is going to Africa with me in 13 days.

If you like the striker buy one if you wnt to try more then do so,striker makes a nice bow.

Ditto
I own two of them they are sweet shooter and Herb is a great guy to deal with.
Pronghorn
Boice's at liberty
I'm very happy with my Morrison Shawnee with Dakota L/B limbs for a smooth fast 60" bow and my Morrison "Mini" or 15" ILF risers with "D" length Carbon/Maple cored LB limbs for a sweet fast 56" or 58" bow.

I would suggest you look at a Firefly by Jim Jones. Great bows. smooth fast and quiet. Jim will do whatever it takes to make his customers happy. Great guy. Braveheart archery has stock bows from Jim ready to ship if you want one right now.

I second the Striker... It is better to shoot one, than take a chance on buying blind.
Dave at Schafer Silvetip Bows is making a take down longbow. If it's anything like the recurves then it's gotta be pretty sweet!! I'd check them out if you're in the market for one.
Come on up to Compton this weekend and try out a bunch of bows. We'll have our Epic ILF risers and both the Epic and Legend ACS longbow limbs.
Mike
I would say that the bow someone is shooting is their favorite. Sometimes they find one that fits them better due a variety of possible factors. Certainly if you can get to Compton I think the best of all worlds is to see and feel a wide range of bows. The vast # of quality bowyers and bows makes it really a personal choice. But I don't think you can go wrong with any of the bows produced by a bowyer that has built a reputation for quality work.
Shawnee, Cheyenne or ILF.. All can be had in a longbow or recurve.
Morrison Cheyenne or ILF, Fire Fly, Hill Country Wildcat, and ACS are my favorites so far of the stuff I have tried. The Dyrad ILF with ACS limbs is very high on my try it list for this weekend.
I'll second the Silvertip Longbow. I've had mine since Dave first started making the 3pc, right after he did away with the 2pc longbow.Great bows, but aren't all Silvertips?
I have two Black Creek Siren's by Jim Gainey. Smooth and fast.
(PRONGHORN) Hard to beat!
ACS is my choice! Fast & accurate.
thanks for all the reply's. going to compton this weekend and going to try a bunch. thanks again. Jim
I'll put my vote in for my fav's Morrison Daktoa, Pronghorn, and a Crow Creek
Treadway Black Rock... I just posted pics of my new bow, it is the third treadway that I have owned and the first take down from Mike. It is a shooter.

Morrison Dakota and Dryad Orion get my top votes.
Good luck and have fun trying out all the wonderful bows that are being made out their right now!
Travis
I like ACSs and Morrisons.
ive not had the chance to shoot most on the list, but the Crow Creek Black Feather is alot of bow for the $, and can be had with recurve limbs as well. Ive been shooting one with #50 recurve limbs over the weekend, one of the best bows ive shot to date.
I havent seen Mike Hays "Black Canyon" Longbows mentioned yet, Ive test shot one and it was right there at the top. Had the best feeling grip ive ever wrapped my hand around. I have one being made soon, and will post a review when It comes in.
PRONGHORN! quiet, fast, accurate, & Herb is great to deal with.
Morrison Shawnee gets my vote... I like the A riser with E limbs which make a 62" bow...
Another Morrison Shawnee fan. "A" riser and "C" or D" longbow limbs for 58" or 60" bows. I have an Morrison ILF with a 17" riser and that makes a 60" bowI like a lot too. Hard to match those carbon/foam longbow limbs!
Jim Jones Firefly I have 3 of them I think the finest longbow made. Jim should be around at Comptons if you want to talk to him. good luck
I like Dryad ILF system or the Dan Toelke bows
I'll have to put a vote in for my Navajo scout. It's my first TD Longbow and it's a very nice bow. Of course it's my first one so i can't make comparisons.
A lot of great bows mentioned. I'll second the Dryad Orion and add the Kota Prairie Nomad to the list.
Leon Stewart 3 piece Slammer.
