My nephew is out visiting me, and all he wants to do in the world is shoot a hog. I've been putting corn out in some feeders and these little fellas come running when they here the atv and feeder. I'm standing around 3 yards from them in some of the pics.

I just got a craving for some pulled pork bbq.
Oh, 81...you had to go and type THAT now huh?
Only place makes it good is down South... hickory fire, oil, vinegar and red pepper basting all night... nuttin else... then coleslaw on top the sammich!
Ohhhhh.... :(
Thats some good looking pork Pat! I'm sure your nephew will have a ball out there!
I smell bacon!
How far is Ada, OK from Hammond, LA? :D
Good stuff there.
Yeah, and it doesn't help that it's lunchtime too.
I think you better show them a broadhead soon.Or have they saw you shoot before
They'll all fit one one arra if angle is right! Getr done.
Kill them all!
PLEASE PLEASE stop discussing pulled pork sammiches with slaw.
I was fortunate to spend close to 7 years in the Carolinas and all this talk is frankly disturbing to me here in Ohio.
Go get some pork!
not at all !
The pics were taken about a week or two ago. I' ve been staying away from the area so as not to spook things up for my nephew. He is only twelve years old, so I am just happy he is interested in hunting. He shot his first deer in NY last year, but he is only rifle hunting since he doesn't pull a heavy enough bow yet. I shot bows with him earlier today, but he has the wheelie kind. I am trying to win him over to trad archery. I will encourage him to wait for momma, who is probably uiding in the brush. With the heat around here most stuff isn't moving till near dark and spot and stalk would be tough.
Ben, I think you Ohio boys think alike. You are the second one to say that the pigs are not worried because of my shooting, lol. I personally couldn' t shoot somwthing eating out of my hand, but they will get mean and wary pretty quickly.

Your nephew is going to have a blast, go getem
Ribs.
:knothead: :bigsmyl:
I think i have had some deer do that to me also.Hope your nephew has a great hunt.
Looks like he has a good chance
That's great Patrick! Hope he has a great hunt bud
Hopefully, he will score and maybe the anticipation in and of itself will bring him much pleasure.
Thanks for the well wishes, guys. He connected on a 175lb sow tonight. He passed on the little guys and waited a few hours in the heat until the bigger hog came along. No pics, since it wasn't a trad kill. I was only posting because I was amazed at how brazen the little piggies were. Gonna try some spot-and-stalk if this weather ever breaks.
February is just around the corner...
And way to go waiting out the sow! You have a Hunter on your hands!
Killdeer
Congratulations to your nephew :readit:
Now that is some fine eating. Guess I will have to take the wife out to Smithfield Barbeque House an eat tonight!
Good luck an go ahead an heat up the grill...Don't forget to post when to eat time. Call me any thing but late to eat!! :campfire:
Tell him congrats. :clapper:
Not to be critical but if you put the corn out in a vertical line perpendicular from the blind instead of horizontal would the pigs stand broadside instead of facing the blind?
On second thought what does it matter if you don't even have to be in the blind. Scratch that. :biglaugh:
Hey Patrick you should have taken him to Stratford last weekend and you would have won him over.. :archer:
I would have taken him but he didn't get into town soon enough.
TJ: I just tossed some on the ground. I had a barrel feeder set up that the bigger hogs could toss around at different angles. Those pics don't show the blind. The wood is a crate on the back of the atv.
When that brown one hits about 125 let me know...
You sure those weren't pen raised? :D It should be a great first kill!
All this pulled pork talk got me thinking of some egg rolls I helped with recently - bbq pulled butt roast, slaw, wrap em up and deep fry em. Wasn't hard to do and ca c'est bon!
