Title: Brace Height Question
Post by: David McLendon on June 07, 2011, 04:44:00 PM
I picked up a super nice '65 Kodiak LH 51# from that place we are allowed to talk about or spell here. What is the brace height range on a 65 Kodiak? I make my own strings but do not have the materials for a dacron string so I'll prolly just buy one for this bow.

David, I don't know the brace ht but if the bow is marked with an AMO length, just buy a string at that AMO length and tune it.  If you decide to make a string, it should be 3" shorter (loop to loop) than the AMO length on the bow.

I think it is  7 1/2" +/-.

I know the Bear Supreme B Takedown was very noisey until I upped the brace height to 8.5".

My 45# RH '65 Kodiak shoots the best it seems right around 7 7/8".  I started at about 7 1/2" and went up to 8 1/4" in slight increments and the 7 7/8" seemed to be the sweet spot.

Thanks, I haven't shot it yet because everything I have here is Ultra Cam. A string is on the way, I can see tooling up on Dacron for one bow.
