Title: Rubbing On Arrow Rest
Post by: PatriarchArcher on June 06, 2011, 04:07:00 PM
I have a MOAB that shoots really well. The arrows fly real straight and hit where I am trying to aim most of the time. But, my arrow rest shows some wear that I can't figure out. It look as if the arrows are wearing the outside of the rest down. Any suggestions on why this is happening?

I had the same problem with my harrelson LB. I played with the nock height with no help and then switched from right helical to left , problem seemed to leave.

I had that problem with right wing fletching. I started shooting cock feather in and problem solved.

Or like Crow said, shoot left wing.

Same problem here except that when it gets real bad my bow also gets noisy.  I also recently realized that both of those things also happen when my brace height is too low.  Increase your brace height a bit and see if it goes away.

Just fixed this problem on my Endeavor.  Raise the nock height.  I rubbed some white deoderant on that spot so that I could see from shot to shot if it was contacting at all.  It will also mark the arrow which will probably be an inch or so infront of your fletch.  Raise the nock until it doesn't mark anymore and as long as your bareshafts still fly true you're good.

You may be over-spined. I was over-spined before and had the same issue. The arrow hits the target, but it wears down the strike plate pretty quickly. What is likely happening is that the arrow is flexing hard to the right against the plate instead of paradoxing smoothly around it. Experiment with a lower spine and chalk to see what happens.

Good luck!
