I have a set of Predator carbons and I want to remove the factory labeling. Is there an easy way to do this? I have tried paint thinner with no luck.
Asatone works good for me !
I use acetone and 0000 steel wool.
I have some older model CE Predator II's and I used acetone to remove the graphics. Worked great! The newer Predators have a different graphic on them, probably will work on them too.

This has worked for me, at least on Easton shafts.
lacuer thinner and steel wool or a terry cloth towel, thats what i use.
I suggest at least trying dishwashing detergent (Dawn) and water with abrasion from a green pot scrubber or 0000 steel wool. Works like a charm on Gold Tips.
I did a dozen of the new Predator II shafts a month or so ago. 0000 steel wool soaked in non-acetone nail polish remover worked well. Also worked on my CE Heritage shafts.
When researching this myself I read quite a few posts that caution the use of acetone on carbon shafts. Could potentially weaken the carbon fibers, but I doubt a quick rub down would do much damage. My mom had the non-acetone stuff so that's what I used.
Thanks for the input!
I had some Terminators with a really ugly label. I got out my Bohning fletching stripper and it removed them in no time at all and didn't damage the camo finish.
But be sure to record the spine on it someplace. You will be glad you did and don't ask how I know this.
Joshua, with more than one set of carbons, same brand, same style, different spine.
I typically used acetone and a wrag on goldtips. I also read a post a while back that acetone would not get the label off and they ended up using dawn dish soap and a plastic scrubber.
I just scratched the label off one of my Gold Tips with the edge of a pair of real small scissors that I use for trimming up feathers. It came off rather easily.
I used 400 wet dry sandpaper on GT and CE heritage. Takes about 10 seconds and makes feathers stick real well also.
James, that was me. I discovered it by washing the acetone off. :biglaugh:
Goof Off and a Scotch Brite pad on my Trad Only's. Worked like a charm!
I dissolve and wipe off the decals on my Axis shafts with Goo Gone Xtreme. Great stuff!
Thanks for the help. I used 00 Steel wool and fingernail remover. The labels came right off.
I used acetone this evening thanks to a friendly tip from a tradganger. Rubbed some on a cloth and went to wiping. Worked great and takes about 20 seconds per arrow
I have some of the older CE Predator II arrows, a quick wipedown with acetone on a rag is all it took to completely remove the labels.
I have found big differences between shafts and how hard the decals are to remove. I tried many things with Beman ICS Bowhunter shafts and it was difficult. Trad Only shafts were easy! Acetone and green scouring pad or paper towel.
On a related note, a friend of mine said that carbon shafts are porous and will absorb solvents. He said this caused some fletching adhesive failure I had on a camping trip...
So far I have not noticed any damage from the acetone to the strength of my shafts. If it doesn't hurt the woodgrain finish I doubt it could hurt the carbon.
I rub my gold tip with denatured alcohol ( NOT isopropyl, etc) and a green pot scrubber and it takes maybe 10 sec
Spray mine with Goof Off. Then rub with steel wool. Takes maybe 20 seconds per shaft.
