I was set-up watching the downwind side of a big pasture hunting coyotes yesterday.
I did a series of loud calls on a predator call when I heard something running in directly behind me. I turned just in time to see a mature doe slide to a stop less than a yard from me!
I'm not sure who was more startled? I quickly reached for my video camera on the tripod next to me and got a little up-close video as she was figuring out what I was.(camo pants, plaid shirt, headnet).
I'll try and post a link to the video later.
It's amazing the things you'll see spending time in the woods. (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn66/tarponnut/th_Movie_0001.jpg) (http://s301.photobucket.com/albums/nn66/tarponnut/?action=view¤t=Movie_0001.mp4)
Ain't it COOL!!
a destressed fawn bleat early in the season will bring in does like Fat Albert to ice cream......really works well here in NC.....
I had one almost run over top of me back in 2007 in November. A buck run her over the ridge and I heard them coming and squatted down. She finally realized I was there and put the brakes on about 5 yards from me. It slung dirt up in my face. Very close and pretty scary at the time...pretty cool now though. So I feel u on this one!!
That is just plain cool.
Video is now attached. Hope the file isn't too big.

(Traditional bowhunt for raccoons)
Went spring turkey hunting once and used a peacock call to get shock gobbles. The does on that place would run over you when they heard it.
