that's "magua" - natural tempered tonkin cane limb veneers with the cane nodes darkened. quite striking, eh? :)

Great pics of all the 'hawks. I may have to invest in one of those things. You guys make them sound really good!
Me thinks that Rob was just waiting for someone to say "show me". Beautiful bows Rob. Not a bad hairdo either. :biglaugh:
my current pair of 'hawks ... both 66" and both over 50# @ 29" ... one is a classic t/d w/lamboo cores and veneers under black glass and a solid cocobolo riser, the other is a 1pc w/solid boo cores and veneers under clear glass and a coco riser pierced with bocote.
68" all yew limbs with bubinga riser.

Rob
Do you think the tonkin cane limbs are better in any way than the other limb materials?
John
I'm surprised that Mohawk doesn't devise a better way of disguising the joint in their two piece.
62", 52@28, Macassar/Cocobola riser, all Yew limbs/core.

if you think about it, how the connexion hinge works and the limits of embedding it into the riser, vince does it the best way possible. not at all defending him, just saying it as it truly is. there will always be a slight bulge at the front of the riser and the grip will be cut in half. if you eschew the split leather grip for a roll down rubber one, the bow will "stick together" when unbraced ... NOTE: the bow in the pics below are NOT a typical mohawk where vince adds a wood riser front overlay veneer surrounding the hinge to "embed" it ...
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/rfdee/archery/M9.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/rfdee/archery/M6-1.jpg)
the connexion hinge is a very solid, positive lock up t/d system that works no matter what the environment or conditions. it has absolutely no effect on shooting the bow. and, it allows the bow to be cut into equal halves - this can be important for stowage of longer longbows during air travel.
so yeah, for me this is the best t/d system out there so far. ymmv.
Here is one going out today, Bocote/Cocobolo with Juniper over actionboo

I'm gonna place an order for a Sparrowhawk soon!!
WOW. Lamey that is one beautiful Hawk. Ok I think im sold. I have been debating on the Savannah and Hawk. Those Hawks are beautiful and I can get the weight I want.
Mohawks are sweet!
Shot a.couple at RMS Gear in Denver. Real snappy!
mohawks are indeed superb mild r/d "D" longbows. i'd been shooting them for years, until the arrival of the sparrowhawk (http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=047253;p=1) . ;)
well I would have a sparrowhawk too if I could get Vince to make me one
Kidding aside im going to get one after the season wraps up.... kidna want to get some blood on my current Mohawk before I get the "new" one.
Here is mine.64" of pure death and 47@27.
Boo cores with red elm veneers.RC

still too wide, joe .....
I said it before and I'll say it again! :banghead: Eric has the prettiest Mohawks Vince has ever made! :archer: :archer2: Wow just saw Lamey's that ones a knockout too.
Ha! Thanks Bent. :biglaugh: I'll throw in my latest since I did'nt have it when this thread started.
All Osage with Cocobolo flare. The best thing is they shoot even better than they look.

I had mine out the past few days in the woods poking around... I need to take some new photos as the Yew has really began to take a darker, richer, redder appearance.
Still my "go to" bow, was trying to find a lighter one but just worked through the back/shoulder issue!!
I have a 31" draw length. Would the 64" stack at that length?
 :dunno:
