i have just bought a older Kodiak Hunter and i have been cleaning it up and it is looking good except i have a couple blemishes on the back of the bow and have tried to polish them out is there any way to restore the color to the rest of the limbs i have always wanted one in pristine shape and this is ass close as i have come to one its about 90%
I used car wax on mine, but the discoloration is still there. I think its marks from a strap on quiver?
You might try posting this on Trad Histoy and Collecting forum and/or look for some ideas there.
K thanks

God bless,Mudd
I have one, I am thinking of taking the factory camo off. this thread may be helpful.
sooo what mudd said :readit:
If there are differences in how the finish faded over time due to tape on or strap on quivers etc. I doubt you can get it to look the same without completely sanding and refinishing.
Here's how my clean up went an a 1967 Kodiak Hunter.

Just cant believe they would hide such a beautiful bow under all that paint. I guess I always Figured they would use ugly wood on painted bows.
The one clue I had this may be a beautiful bow, was there was a silkscreen underneath the camo, which told me they pulled one off the finished rack and then went back and painted it. which apparently happened often.
Its a keeper.Love them Kodiak hunters.
What did you use to remove the paint? I have a 70's Kodiak Super Magnum that the guy before me painted and i want to safely remove all said paint.
I've had the best luck removing old paint with acetone based fingernail polish. Put some on an old rag and it come off pretty well with out damaging the silkscreens or lettering.
Great looking bow Charlie.

John, I didn't know you were still around.
the Bowfishing offer still stands!
I, Like Jay, Used acetone based fingernail polish and a rag. The paint came right off.
On one bow I was able to rub light enough and save the silk screens but on the one shown earlier, I had to reorder the silk screens because it took them right off.
