French Manny and his lovely wife came to visit today. Manny was picking up an osage stave that 4runr left here for him so he strung up my bows and we went out to play. Only shooting about 15 yards and my groups weren't up to my standards(I haven't shot in months) but they got better as the day went by. 90 degrees out there today and it felt every bit.
We had a lot of fun and my little guy Jake did some shooting too. Don't have any pics, sorry, but it was a blast. I had to short draw a bit but it was still all good.
Manny got to try a Black Swan Hybrid, Shrew Lil Favorite Scout, 1958 Bear Kodiak Special and Saxon American Recurve. I'll let him say what he thought of the bows.
Did something today I hadn't done before. 1 of my arrows got put into the stone wall behind my target and the tip snapped off. While shooting the Swan I accidently picked it up and shot it. Shot about 4 inches high and buried itself in the target. The way it flew you'd never know it was a busted arrow. Pretty funny look on Manny's face when he pulled it out. LOL
Good for you, David. Keep working at it. There are water buffalo in your future :)
Good for you Dave, hope ya did'nt over do it! Glad your back at it! :campfire:

Horizontal drawing is fine, it's the vertical pulling that is not good. It felt sweet to draw a bow again. real sweet to get the arrows banging off each other after the long lay off. Shot only about 100 arrows and it was spaced out over a couple hours, so I took it easy.
Good to hear! I've been back shooting as well.
I hate pain!
:bigsmyl: :clapper: Take it easy Dave.
Glad to hear that Joe! Not being able to shoot is a huge pain!
Nice to hear you're feeling up to it
Bret
Glad to hear your back shooting, but be careful and take it slow.100 arrows may be too much for the first time out after a long lay off.this is when those nagging little injuries like tendonitis in the shoulder or elbow occur.
best wishes
KPaul
David, I am glad to hear you are back doing what you love. Hopefully soon you will be back to normal.
Dave and Joe back shooting again now I'm happy! Hey Dave you ready to try my CREEK?
That is soooooo good to hear Dave. I'm glad I'm not the only to have hit that wall. Although I don't have as good an excuse as you!!
Joe, glad to hear you're shootin too. Also glad to see you postin again. I've missed your builds!
Glad you are back at it, but take it slow my friend.
Danny
Who said I hit the wall Kenny?
Glad to hear you were able to shoot today! Hope those 100 arrow or so don't make you too sore tomorrow.
Good for you. I had hernia surgery in March and at that time the doc told me to wait 6 weeks to shoot, at the same time I was waiting on a new bow. Doc gave in after 2 weeks and let me try.
Take it slow and you will be back in no time.
Good health and shooting to you.
Made my day dave. Congrats!<><
Made mine too Frank.
Oh yeah...that's got to feel good. A big congrats.
Seems like you're going to have to stop the ol' swing draw for a while, huh.
I'll bet you start to prefer riser up while punchin' foam or paper after a while. Always nice to have the swing draw in the arsenal, though.
That is great David. Glad to hear that you can shoot again. Take it slow and you will be up to snuff in no time.
Donald

So good! I have gas money now, let me know when I can come play. :bigsmyl:
When can you get down here?
Sunday or Monday, those are my usual days off. PM me with directions and a good date and I'll be there.
good job. Take it easy and go slow so you don't re-injure yourself.
ChuckC
Good for you Dave, now get to Il. and do some carp shooting with me.
IM HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH
Good for you Dave but take it slow as one who is also recovering from illness knows its easy to overdo it but have a little fun every day and it makes the time pass so much quicker Delin
It was great to meet Dave and his family, in the beautiful state of Vermont!
No highway to go there, and a looong border crossing made us arrive late but it was a pleasure to meet David, and his little fellow archer, shooting at 4 years old!
Nice bows we shot, and Vermonster will be back in shape soon if I judge from yesterday's shooting!

It was good to have you and your lovely wife here Manny. We need to do it again soon.
Good on ya, VTm! I know it must make you feel more alive.
Good to hear, Dave! Glad you are BACK!
Good news Dave! Glad to hear you are back shooting. Don't try to speed it up too fast. You have 3 or 4 months to get built back up. Don't try to do it in two or three days!
Good news for you, too, Joe. And take your time as well in getting fully back.
Bill
Thanks everyone. I feel fine today other than it being humid and in the low 90s. 14th Anniversary today so doubt I'll get to shoot. Always tomorrow though. :D
Great to see you back behind the bow!!!!!!!!
Keep it up!!!!!!
Congrats on your anniversary Dave. My wife and I will be leaving on Friday to fly to BWI and then drive to Lancaster County PA to celebrate our 40th (July 1st). It's hard to believe that we've been married that long, but then again it's hard to believe our son is 35 and he and his wife have 4 children and our daughter is 31 and she and her husband have 4 children, too! No wonder I'm losing my hair and what I have left is mostly gray!! :(
Bill
Good deal Dave!! Just don't get too carried away too quick!

Great to hear Dave!
That Frenchy is a wonderful friend :)
Sounded like a great time even with the heat.
Frenchy is a keeper.
Have a new member here coming down either Sunday or Monday to shoot. Should be fun.
You people are too nice!
How can it be better than meeting friends, shooting the bow and enjoying life?
For sure we'll do it again, and Shell I'm sure we will meet at a shoot!
:wavey:
