I've had this pretty horn handled knife for oh...close to 50 yrs in my desk. Given to me by Norweigen friends of my parents when I was a teenager. They went to Norway & Sweden for a home visit and left 3 blonde kids with my folks and I for 2 weeks. What a hoot!
I get this great knife Fjkillniven with no stampings on it, a very pretty sheath with that name stamped on it, Norway stamped in a banner and a scene with a moose.
I saw Svein's incredible knife over on the St. Jude Auction http://auction1.tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=157;t=000077 and thought, "Hey, why not email him and see if he would happen to know something about this knife I never used?"
He did! He researched it and wrote to tell me it's a 3 laminate blade made by then SS Helle company. Wow!
Thanks, Svein. Check out the best bargain on knives going on St. Jude. The blade on his comes from a 7th Generation blacksmith blade family in Norway. Some history right there and a gorgeous set of scales!

There ya go, Dear Killy!
Like that title better? Now the "mods" can't find it and .... :jumper:
Ohhhh...now I see why you posted that!
Too early in the day gal. Ya should've PM'd me! Oh, well...it's for the kids!
Sorry, Bunky! :)
(duck, incoming!!!)
Doc, thanks a lot for these kind words!
I really appreciate it, and am always glad to help anyone with questions I may be able to answer!
And thanks to Killdeer also, for bidding for the kids, and mocking my lack of leather making skills :D
Hey, some bonehead emails you and asks if by chance you know anything about a 50 yr old knife from Norway and you ask for pics and in a couple hours, come back with a whole history....
AND...AND
You can build gorgeous knives!
I think you don't need to be making no speeches!
Your skill and giving show nuff, shor nuff!
No mockery of archery or leathercraft skills from me! I was just looking at a fine knife which you all are gonna place outta my reach now, and thinking on how easy it would be to make a sheath for it. I am no Rough Country (nobody is!!) but I could make something to keep it safe in.
Thank you, SveinD, for such a fine donation for the kids.
Killdeer :notworthy:
Shame, cause a little mockery is just plain fun, as you and Larry have proven time and again^^ ;)
It's all in good fun, and enjoy!
Did I just hear a "Loosen up, Sandy baby." outta this guy?
And I was being almost as polite as Rastaman. :smileystooges:
Killdeer :knothead:
Sandy baby, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
