Well, we are seeing some nice deer at my place this year. Last year we had a Mountain Lion roaming the area and it seemed to push the deer to other places! I got a good look at the lion one mornin' about 6:00 am. About 60 yards from my stand! Anyway to the point, as Koda (my dog) and I was out for our mornin' walk about 8:00am, she (Koda) kept going over to low hanging tree. As I approached to see what she was lookin' at (Rattle Snake) time here you know!! I saw a large doe, dead!!! She had a rather large wooden spike, about 1" around and about 6" long enbedded in here chest. She must have jumped a fence or was running from something and ran straight into a limb/brance with a shape point to drive it that deep in her. Guess it's just nature's way of thinning the herd! :deadhorse:
I stalked a bedded doe near a fallen tree once only to find that she was already dead from the tree coming down and smacking her with a limb. Nature has a way that is neither kind nor cruel-it just is. But to be out there and seeing it is what I enjoy about this life.
I stalked a 5X5 elk once - dead. Now, I have the antlers in the basement and the ivorys in my bow riser.

I saw a picture a few years ago of a deer that was stuck in the crotch of a forked tree. Hap
