Why does everything happen all at once? I have the homeplace crazies going on, parental responsibilities because the parents are needing parents, and if I don't crunch some numbers I am going to be scheduled six days a week again at work, in which case I am going to find a very tall tower, climb it and blow huge bubbles over all of Washington, DC.

And now, Larry The Curmudgeon is supposedly trash talking ME? If it weren't for me, he would never have realized that this bow that he had was The Magic Bow, realized a handsome profit from it, gotten it back, and could never have made this sizable contribution to the Children of St. Jude.

And this is how you pay me back for all my kind unselfish loving deeds? Huh?

They're coming to take me away, hoho,
they're coming to take me away, haha...

Killie,

I agree with all that's going on in your life the last thing needed is for Lawrence to harass you.  Please just put him and the Magic bow out of your mind for now, I'm sure someone will come along and pay the just ransom for the privilege to rescue her.

On a more serious note do take time to rest your weary mind life can sure be tough, praying for your peace.

Oh, fer Pete's sake (or Larry's) all he said was that bow wasn't used, it was locked up in Fibber McGee's closet and that is more secure than Ft. Knox.

 :readit:

It ain't trash talk when it's true.

Hey, Dear Killy, you know I know what you're dealing with...work 9 hrs, travel 2hrs RT and then run to the nursing home for an hour each nite...so yeah, been there, do that! Wears a body down, but in my case anyway, Pop's case, I'm the only hell he ever raised, so I owe him.

Tween visits and managing his dwindling $$$ and pay bills, fight with care givers to give real care, I'm exhausted.

Take the advice offered... Between yer watch cat and Spirit watch dog, I'd guess Fibber McGee's is pretty secure!  :)   More to the bow's Mojo than not.

Rest well my friend.  Keep the shiny side up on them rounds of yours!

Killie my friend-
Cared for my Dad and lost the battle two years ago and now Mom is traveling the same road. Parenting parents is not an easy job but in most cases it is its own reward. Rest easy in knowing that you are not alone. Take time for yourself sometime even though this is easier said than done but it will put life back into your step when you hit the woods we all crave. Take care of yourself.

Just so there is no confusion concerning my poke at Larry (Lawrence) and stirring the pot for the "Magic" bow.  My intent is to get some movement going over on the auction of the "Magic" bow.
We that have been here for a little while have become well acquainted with the story of the bow and the Good   :D  (Killie) and the Bad   :scared:  )  for the kids.

So please those that can make the bids please do, don't let this opportunity past and not have the impact that it could and should have.

Kathy,

Do I need to send a bottle and a cigar to VA?

Rub Spirit on her head.......it will help put things in perspective.

If all else fails....go shoot something...gun....bow....I find it helps me zone out everything but what I'm doing at the moment.

James you be Baaddd!

I was just in Horseheads/Corning area back the second week of May, flew into Syracuse.  Absolutely beautiful country!  I, like many others get this picture painted in my head that NY is mostly city type of terrain, but it's far from it really pretty country.

Tony, you have outdone yourself twice on my behalf, I believe I owe YOU a bottle and another campfire. I am all cheered up now, or maybe just punchdrunk, as I only got two hours of sleep last night. (notice that I posted on that good-guy auction site at 1:30 this morning. Then I read the threads a little to wind down, finally retiring at 2:30.

Nothing cheers me up more than time spent in the woods with good friends and fine weapons, and here they all are, right here on TradGang!

Here are three favorites, all in a bunch.
The Magic Bow, my curly koa bow Ember, and a bow made from the same block of koa for Chris Surtees. Chris allowed me to buy the bow from him in installments, always prodding me to send an address, which I would not do until he got the final payment. The bow brought a lot of money in for the St Jude auction last year, as I expect The Magic Bow will this year.

I currently own two centaurs, and used to own another, all-glass Centaur (#15 on Jim's site). The Magic Bow has a certain something that no other Centaur that I have shot seemed to possess. A quintessence, mercurial and enigmatic infuses the limbs and riser. Uh, that translates to PFM, in engineerspeak.

Did I tell you about the time The Magic bow killed a bear at eighty yards? Out there, past the bucks...

For many years, I was fortunate to share a fire, some grub, sippin sumpin and smoke with our own Dear Killy.

You won't find better camp people than she and Clark and Spirit!

I missed that this year at B'more, but maybe can make it up sometime somewhere else...

Good people grow easy on the soul with the years

Much as I like to sock Larry in the arm, yeah, he's OK people. What a campfire that would be, those New Yakkers, and the Baltimore bunch.
Don't forget to pack the mini-grunt.   ;)

I do love that koa CS bow........who ended up with that bow anyway? (so that I may possibly send somewhat subtle hints in their direction that, should they ever decide to part ways with said work of art, and due to my overwhelming desire to have said work of art in my hand, I would very much appreciate if they would keep me in mind before they decide to put it up on the big auction!)

You would hafta put "that" bow up wouldnt ya Larry.I'm tempted to bid on myself even though I've switched to a lefty since hurting my rt shoulder.

This bow really is the "magic bow" and was the first Centaur I shot . . . made me go out and buy my own which was also rt handed so I guess I should keep my eye's open for a lefty.

Bid high this is "the one"

Tony, there used to be a place onsite where you could go and see the St Jude forums from the past several years. I just tried to find it and...

I hate when they clean out the Reference Section!
I am pretty sure I mailed it to Californornia. LA type Californornia. I probably have the info somewhere, but I forget the Dewey Decimal number for it.

I'm going to let you all in on a little secret. When I bought the Magic Bow back from Killie, she told me if I ever sold it, she would do very  bad things to me, and I promised her I wouldn't ever sell it.  When I considered putting it up on the St Judes auction, I pm'd Killie asking her blessings in doing so.( being as how I wasn't selling it, but it was going to leave my possesion)

Well, I tell ya, she was totally speechless, and after she got over the shock that an old curmudgeon such as myself would do such a thing, why she just broke down in tears and gave me her blessing. That gal may have a hard exterior, but she's got the softest heart there ever was.

Yep, that's the story as I remember it.  :archer2:

Chuck, thank you!
I love that pic, and I love the memory of sharing that fire with some of my favoritest folks. There were you and your son, Bernie, Dano, Bill and Will Pearce, and my much-missed hunting buddy ApplePie, who left me in the citified part of Virginia to go raise his family in the green splendor of Tennessee. Who am I leaving out?

What a treat that was. Dano gave me a beautiful selfbow, and one to Bernie, too! That time shines real bright now, thanks for the reminder.
