Title: ? for Alaska members
Post by: centaur on May 25, 2011, 11:24:00 AM
The wife and I will be traveling to your state in late June through early August. I plan on lots of fishing while there, but of course the bow will be along on the trip, and I was wondering what if any small game/bird seasons might be worth a license during that time. We will be driving and camping out, so I wouldn't mind a ptarmigan or two for dinner if they are legal. We will be mainly south of Fairbanks and on the Kenai.

You're gonna be a little early for birds.  They usually open up around August 10.  But there are scads of bunnies around and there is no closed season in most units.

Ptarmigan and grouse still have their brood coveys with them in July as to the late springs we get.  Where are you gonna fish?  I can get you some names of some reputable guides on the Kenai river and also some recommendations for Saltwater charters for Halibut and the like.  Feel free to ask away,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Centaur - Bill got it.  I'm in Kenai and would be well pleased to help you with some fishing/hunting/hiking stuff.  Just pm me if you need a hand.
