Anyone who has ordered a custom bow knows the anticipation waiting for it to be done, and the excitement when that slip shows up inthe mailbox telling you to pick up a box at the post office.
For me, its like waiting for Christmas morning as a kid. And I've once again endured the wait.
My 3rd MOAB arrived home today, and as I've been accustomed to, Jim did a beautiful job. This one,yet to be named, will join its siblings on the Thunderstick rack. The new arrival is a 60" takedown, Bubunga riser, and Jim snuck in an Ebony accent, antler overlays on the tips,action-boo limbs and weighing it at 56#@27".
This bow has but one purpose in life, to hunt elk. To go further, higher, deeper and longer through the mountains, following the sound of the bugle, and the fragrance of a fresh wallow.
And should it all come together, to deliver its payload to an unsuspecting bull.
Im still healing from elbow surgery, and not supposed to shoot for at least another month, but.....I just had to. Just a couple shots, which as I've come to expect, arrived precisely where I was lookin.
Yes, I am a Thunderstick junkie. This is my 3rd MOAB. I love 'em all.

I'll take some more pics a little later, gotta run to an appt.

Lefty! :banghead:
Real nice! What take down does Jim use?
Ben, yeah, I'll be ready. Elbow is getting better every day. Im not really gonna do any shooting for another month, other than a test shot here and there to see how it feels.
In the meantime I'm going over my gear, and workin out my legs and lungs. Can't do a lot of upper body training either per the Dr. No pushups, pullups dips, etc. Which really throws me off as far as that goes, but I'll manage.
Now I just gotta build some arrows for it,probably order shafts today.
I didnt get a chance to take more pics yesterday, son had baseball game, and we had some stormy weather too.I'l see if I can today.
That's good to here.Take your time and i cant stress enough get in shape those mountains are tough on us old men. What weight arrows are you going with and what broadhead?
Great looking bow John, Do you have any more pics of the limbs.
Where are you planning on hunting Elk? Heal up.
Don
Nice looking bow. That will get the job done.
Beautiful bow!!
Ben, Im leaning towards going with Lam birch shafts, and elclpise 145 heads. Still not sure onthe heads, only thing I dont like about the eclipse is the slight radius surve to the blade edge. I prefer straight, but otherwise I've read good things about them. I want my arrows around 600-625. I've got some of the Surewoods, I like them but a little lighter than I prefer. If I crank up the head weight to get them where I wan them theyll be underspined. So... I'll hafta tinker a little.
Heres a couple more pics of "Dark Timber". Along with "the Fridge"( My fully loaded elk huntin pack).
